I would think that:
  • Follow appropriate safety rules at all times
  • Orient firearm using suitable, stable stance and grip.
  • Align sighting device with target
  • Engage trigger with minimal disruption to sight alignment
  • Follow through properly on discharge, managing recoil and cycling action as needed
Should be applicable worldwide and across most disciplines, for properly controlling your firearm.
My grandfather said, "Always use your head!".
I told him, "I want to pound nails!"
He said, "Best use a hammer instead."
