I usually wear bifocals for close and far but when I'm shooting I've been able to not have to wear them. It's time for my annual eye exam and I want to look at prescription shooting glasses but my optician isn't a shooter so she's not sure what I should get.
Does anyone see an optician that is a shooter and could do my next exam?

I haven't found an optometrist that shoots, ever. Every time I get a new set of glasses, the new lightweight materials constantly improve my vision, all the way til I get behind the scope. I'm pretty tired of it.
My current lenses are out of date, but my prescription doesn't change that much and is very mild. I am going to see if I can get the laser surgery done for long distance and settle for reading glasses close up. Being able to shoot and drive without glasses will be nice.
Lasik Eye surgery may be the way to go for you too.

Hmm. Y'all may want to try eye doctors in the more southern, exurban parts of the Commonwealth. I would think that some travel might be worth the effort.
A word on Lasik: apparently, not everyone can get it. My beloved, blind-as-a-senior-bat, wife looked into Lasik. The eye material that Lasik "sands" down with lasers is too thin on her eyes, so it would make things far worse. However, my sister had the Lasik operation done, several years ago. She said that it was worth every penny, and she probably would have paid thrice the price.
Corrective lenses and firearms are both popular tools in my family; maybe my parents or snivelings have shooting-enthusiasts eye doctors. I asked my wife, already. She said, "I don't give a damn about the hobbies; I give a damn about if he can fix my eyes!" I'll ask around, though; see if I can find out something useful.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking as well. Getting old sucks!
