Ruger "Ranch " 7.62x39

Post by Snakester »

My new "Ranch" rifle is fast becoming my favorite shooter. I really like the 16" barrel and the 10 rd. mag. I went on a 4 mile walk in the woods today and it was like carrying a 10/22. This rifle would be a great deer hunting gun and I may take it Boar hunting in June.

Looks like a great rifle. A quick read-up on it just put it on my wish list.

My Range is 100 yds. so I shoot it a lot at 100 yds. I have a Red Dot Scope on it now but , I may change it to a Scope set up with more magnification . It shoots great at 100 yds. now ....Yesterday I shot it at about 200 yds. and it was shooting 3-4" low . I was still pretty pleased how it shot. I was standing when shooting only using the strap to steady myself .

I removed the Red Dot today and mounted a 4x12x40 Scope. I only shot about 30 rds. today . It shot really good and I do like the scope over the Red Dot . It only took a couple slight adjustments to zero it in at 40 yds. and a minor adjustment at 100 yds. here's a target with the first 5 shots.

That is a nice rifle Randy. I say take it on your hog hunt.

And take me too...I'm sure I could use a vacation by then lol.

I'm hoping to find out this week if I have a spot on the hog hunting trip. I'm definitely taking the Ranch if I get to go. I really like it with the New Scope !
