As many people have been pointing out for about a week... there was 1 school shooting in Israel.
In 1974, Palestinian terrorists took 115 people hostage at Netiv Meir Elementary School.

Now, all schools with 100 students or more are not have private police guarding the schools at every entrance, metal detectors and bag checks. Fortified buses, parimutuel fences, etc. There hasn't been a school shooting since.

This seems quite a turn of attitude. I personally think there is a significant difference between empowering a family member to report another family member and get a restrictions on owning a gun. The recent shooting was an example of the family reporting the concern and no one did anything about it. That is different than the family member having the control of creating the restriction.

If you look at where shootings occur and where they are not happening it becomes a little more clear.

And all the talk about the kids on the bus and visiting the law makers/trump and NRA. I think they are just "hot-shots" thinking they can make any statement they want, will never be held accountable for it and might possibly be able to say "I had an influence" on gun confiscation.

Here's the results of a survey of educators about school safety taken after the Sandy Hook shooting.

“36.3% of educators surveyed report owning a firearm, 37.1% of whom say they would be likely or very likely to bring it to school if allowed.”

37.1% of 36.3% is 13.47% of all teachers surveyed.
Frankly I find that number to be quite heartening.
Nearly 1 out of 7 are willing to arm themselves to protect their students.

Frankly,I didn't expect it to be that high.
That's higher than the typical percentage of eligible adults that get a CHP or CHL.

Maybe CHP use will go up both locally and nationally if educators are allowed to carry in school.

I have been working for DOD for almost 2 decades and I didn't bother getting my CHP until I was able to work from home most days. It was almost pointless for me to get a permit because I was working in DC in federal government and DOD facilities. The very rare occasion I carried, I just OC'ed.

I have been primarily working from home for the last 7 years and carry daily ever since. So it made sense to get one.

I'm thinking maybe more than a few teachers have the same mindset that I do.

If having teachers carry is such a issue, why not authorize tasers, or pepper spray? I would like it if select teachers could carry, but if you could get others armed with less lethal defense I think that would be a solution. Better than nothing
