My daughter likes to read civil war books, and to watch documentaries on the subject.
However, I'd like some recommendations for books that have the history as it was, not as it was written by victors, and with a leftist agenda.
Amazon links appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I don't think such as thing exists. You may have to search the Library of Congress or National Archives for anything written by people who were in Government at the time and kept records.
I can tell you not to trust a single thing written or spoken by Bill O'Reilly or Martin Dugard. They'll swear they got shot down with Brian Williams and took sniper fire with Hillary.

Go to an old library, and search for books with a print date prior to 1950. Go as old as possible.
If I can remember, and if I can catch my father when he's not busy, I'll ask him if he can recommend any good titles in regard to The War Between the States.
Myself, I have found that the Politically Incorrect Guides to history have been entertaining, though I have never fact checked them.
Also, Libra-Vox has some narrated books, downloadable for free, on the subject. It's not many, but there were a couple of accounts that were written by Southerners who experienced the war.

Here's a Librivox recording, written by an actual Confederate soldier:
https://librivox.org/detailed-minutiae- ... -mccarthy/
I haven't listened to it, yet, so I can't speak to how enjoyable the book is.
I will say, though, that Librivox recordings are all public domain publications, and read by amateur volunteers. It's a great idea, but some recordings can be unlistenable; poor enunciation on the part of the narrator, bad recording software (or a lack of understanding of how the software works), or both. That, and some folks just don't have a radio friendly voice. Still, though, it's a good resource. At the very least, you can learn about the existence of some titles.

And, from the Internet Archives:
https://archive.org/search.php?query=Co ... ica&page=5
The results of a search for "Confederate States of America"
There are all sorts of things on that website. One could likely spend a solid decade on that site, and still not get through all the content.

Go to the section on books. Literally dozens of books written without yankee spin, denial, & omissions...
War Crimes against Southern Civilians, is certainly an eye opening read. Experiences, & facts that are severely downplayed, & justified by many a yankee apologist.
