Intro
Hi all,
There's a chance I'll be moving to northern VA from north FL early next year (God willing), so I'm exploring the gun forum scene a bit. I'm 56, been shooting since I was 12, and been a north FL resident since '68. Very active on our local gun forum (where many of us know each other on a F2F basis), and fairly active on one statewide forum. I'm in the association business, and have been a lobbyist in FL since 1995. Like most state associations, we do our thing in DC, too, so I've been to northern VA and DC about 40 times over the last two decades. Married to a lovely woman for 26+ years; 2 adult kids 18 & 21 (who are moving up with us); very conservative with libertarian leanings; Reformed Christian; wife and I have CCW/EDC'd for years. Bought my daughter a Glock 42 for her 21st BD, but she's still not carrying it (though she's had top notch training).
Thanks for having me!

I live in northern Virginia. There are pros and cons to the area, but I've called it my home for the last 25 years.
When you make it up here, post a message and we can tell you about the local gun ranges and stores.
Welcome to the neighborhood!

Welcome.
Can you bring some 1000 more of your buddies? We need some reinforcements up north.

All political power comes from the barrel of a gun. The communist party must command all the guns, that way, no guns can ever be used to command the party - Mao Tse Tung

Please bring 72 degree spring water temperature with you. Please don't bring Perry paper mill smell with you.

LOL! I'm in Tallahassee, so Perry is out of our olfactory range! I used to spend a lot of time in my younger days scuba diving in the many springs, caverns, rivers, and caves. Pretty amazing stuff to see just a few yards below our feet.SpanishInquisition wrote:Please bring 72 degree spring water temperature with you. Please don't bring Perry paper mill smell with you.

It's a sad state of affairs that we need to "take back" VA, isn't it?

Substratum, is your name here a hat tip to some level of NSS/CDS activity? Back when I lived in Perry and the state hadn't taken so many springs from private hands, I'd head in the general direction of Luraville or Branford for a summer afternoon cool down dive.
