Clicking a link updates current tab rather than opening new
Clicking a link updates current tab rather than opening new
Clicking a tab updates current tab rather than opening new tab.
Has there been any recent change that may have caused this? It does not happen on other forums.
I have Tab Mix Plus addon for Firefox and until recently (a week or so) it would open a new tab like other links and other forums. It also updates the current tab if I right click -- either button same results.

Re: Clicking a tab updates current tab rather than opening new t
I have the same problem Can't open any links on this site to a new tab. If I right click "new tab" or middle mouse button, it just opens the link in the current tab. Does it on Firefox, Edge and IE11.

I'm using the latest Chrome (64 bit) version and left clicking a link opens it in a new tab.
I just tried it on a thread in this forum and that's what happened.

I don't have that problem in Firefox. In Options, go to General > Tabs and select...
- Open new windows in a new tab instead
- Don’t load tabs until selected
- When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately

Re: Clicking a tab updates current tab rather than opening new t
That is exactly how mine is configured. If I center mouse click, it opens in the same tab. I can't right-click any links to get to the menu. As soon as I right-click on any link, it immediately opens the link the the current tab.OakRidgeStars wrote:I don't have that problem in Firefox. In Options, go to General > Tabs and select...

I have the exact same problem in Firefox 46.0.1, IE 11.306.10586.0 and Edge 25.10586.

Running Chrome Version 51.0.2704.79 m (64-bit) and middle click opens a new tab as expected.
Just checked IE 11 and middle click opens a new tab as expected too.

Hmm... not exactly the behavior we want the site to exhibit. I'll look into it when I get a chance. So tired tonight...

Thanks Rick. I usually access the site from my handheld computer, commonly called an Android smartphone... which it works fine with Chrome. LOL

Re: Clicking a link updates current tab rather than opening new
Any chance this will be looked at for correction?
I saved the page(s) for this page and altered this line from Window >> tab and it seems to work as I would prefer. I do not know what that may do to others.
Old: hrefels.onclick = function () { window.open(this.href); return false; };
hrefels.onclick = function () { tab.open(this.href); return false; };

Re: Clicking a link updates current tab rather than opening new
I'm having trouble understanding the issue...
I'm using firefox...
Left click - opens in current tab
Right click - menu where I can select to open in new tab or new window
CTRL + left click - opens in new tab
SHIFT + left click - opens in new window
All work as expected.
What am I missing?

Re: Clicking a link updates current tab rather than opening new
Mine started working a few days ago... but before that... right clicking a link would not open a menu, it just loaded the link as if I left clicked it. Center click did the same thing. It happened with all of my browsers inside of Windows 10, regardless of the PC I used. My smartphone and Linux systems worked fine. This was the only site it was happening on, too.
Not sure what changed to break it or for it to resolve... didn't review the code.

Re: Clicking a link updates current tab rather than opening new
I have been checking briefly and on June 28 - my last post it didn't seem to be working. Now it is! Sorry for any confusion. Thanks, Rick.

hmm..weird...I haven't changed anything... Let me know if it recurs, please.
Re: Clicking a link updates current tab rather than opening new
Working fine for me now.
One thing I noticed (might have been the same as before - just don't remember) clicking the topic title in a 'reply' of my own post it simply moves that line o top of the browser window - which is fine too. Reduces refreshes and new tabs (I'm on a limited data plan). I can right click and open a new tab if desired.
Clicking other replies will open a new tab.
Thanks.
