Under The Gun Director has admitted to a felony.

Post by AlanM »

This mess just gets better and better.
What are the odds she'll be prosecuted?

Under The Gun Director Admits Breaking Federal Firearms Laws On Camera
Under the Gun director Stephanie Soechtig has proven time and again that she’s both arrogant and intentionally dishonest, but now she’s apparently volunteered that she’s a criminal as well.

It turns out that Ms. Soechtig enticed one of her employees to break federal gun laws.

February, The Lip TV interviewed the film’s director, Stephanie Soechtig, prior to the film’s release. During this interview, Ms. Soechtig openly discussed how she sent a producer of the film, who resides in Colorado, to Arizona to purchase firearms (including three pistols) privately. [original video marker 1.27]

According to Ms. Soechtig, the producer met a private seller in a parking lot of a local Wendy’s, and in less than four hours and without a background check, obtained a Bushmaster rifle and three handguns. ( AmmoLand News has highlighted the exact video portion in question below, see the entire video on The Lip TV link above. https:// youtu.be/DSHJSfHsvmw )

Will the feds do anything? No.

Should AZ or CO do something? Absolutely.

Would AZ or CO do something? Maybe. More likely AZ than CO.

I'd like to see the ATF pursue a case on Soechtig and the poor producer that broke several laws trying to show how easy it is to "legally" (illegally) buy a gun. Unfortunately they will probably track down the seller and remove that "menace" from the streets while praising the "bravery" of the "journalists" for tackling such a heavy issue.

I have much greater concerns of the mentality of the person whom sold the guns without knowing anything about the buyer -- if that is the case.

If the question(s) was asked by the seller -- Do you live here in Az and answered yes -- no issue with the seller. Perhaps he should have asked for id to verify... If the answer was no then shame on the seller -- he messed up.

What bothers me most is Katie's director Stephanie Soechtig was trying to prove a point, whether she used a legal or illegal technique, that anyone can:
- buy guns on the street
- transport them across state lines

and she succeeded. This does not help us but her own agenda.

First things first: Is she lying about this? She has a history of deception, so...

I understand your point, but you are focusing on the seller, which is what I feared. The only thing that has been proved is that people are willing to break the law in order to suit their own ends. Criminals will always be able to obtain the tools of their trade no matter the legality.

In Virginia the seller is only required to reasonably believe the buyer is not a prohibited person. There is no requirement to verify residency or maintain any sort of documentation for private sales. I believe Arizona to be similar. I believe the buyers in this case need to be vilified and prosecuted because they actually broke the law, knowingly or not.

I've been asked by my employer to do illegal things, before.

My answer is always "No." It's fairly simple to insist on staying legal.

Thanks. As I think more about it we all know this buy/sell technique is widely used and cannot be controlled regardless of laws.

And the above is why if I sell to a private person, I use a basic ATF Bill Of Sale form just to cover both of our perspective back sides. Just seems so simple to me, simple one sided piece of paper with our names, date, type, serial number, and two signatures. We both get a copy, and if ever asked, we both have our personal paper work. I know we "don't have to", but would rather CYA for both parties.
