An elderly man who was being robbed by two teens in March was justified in shooting one of them, according to Hampton police reports.
Police have arrested the other suspect, a 15-year-old boy, in connection with a robbery that resulted in a homicide.
An investigation revealed that two people approached a 71-year-old Hampton man, displayed a handgun and demanded money, a news release said.
The 71-year-old, who was armed and feared for his safety, then shot one of the robbers, police said.
After the other suspect fled the scene, the 71-year-old called 911 and cooperated with police, the release said.

No charges have been brought against the man. Police ruled the shooting as justified, Hampton police spokesman Sgt. M. Bond said Monday.
The robber who was shot, Jafari Mitchell, 18, was taken to the hospital where he died.
Police said they have arrested the other suspect, a 15-year-old Hampton boy.
He is charged with one count of attempt robbery and one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
Previous update, 6:15 p.m. March 13: An 18-year-old man has died after he was shot during a reported robbery in the Wythe section of Hampton Sunday afternoon, police said.

Officers and medics responded to the reported robbery and shooting at the Colonial Landing Apartments in the 2100 block of Kecoughtan Road just after 2:45 p.m., Lt. Jason Price said at the scene. There, they found Jafari Mitchell, of Hampton, lying on the ground behind the complex suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he died a short time later, Price said.

Police have not yet said how the man was connected with the robbery or if charges are pending in connection with the incident. The homicide is under investigation, Price said.

"We are confident that we have all the individuals involved in this incident identified," he said.
