North Carolina gender law

I am curious what others think about the recent NC law.

It seems to me that 'discrimination' has become a term applied anytime someone doesn't agree with someone else. One or the other is discriminating. I suspect it will become a word that can have two distinctive meanings: true discriminating and disagreeing.

I feel for parents with daughters in particular (maybe I'm discriminating here ... ) that now are subject to be in a bathroom stall next to a biological man. It just bothers me.

As far as I'm concerned, if you were born with a penis, you use the restroom labeled "men", or "boys", or some other noun that indicates that the room is designated for male use. Likewise, if you were born with a vagina, you use the restroom labeled "women", or "girls", or some other noun that indicates that the room is designated for female use.

In regard to North Carolina, I see one more reason to not live in that state. I pity my friends that live there.

I'm with H. If you were born a man, you can have all the cosmetic modifications you want... you're still a man. Same goes for a woman. DNA doesn't lie. I don't want a perv of any sex creeping around anyone. This gives every scumbag that opportunity.

I'm with you too. There are some issues that are very simple and doesn't take a lawyer to figure out. Look in a mirror and make the decision. Someone will help you if you can't decide on your own.

What's to stop a 16 year old stud who can't get a date for the prom from hanging out in the women's room or shower room? Or...(I'll be the alarmist) - plant cameras in dressing rooms? Will they install urinals in the women's room and Bidets in the men's room?

Bidets are awesome, especially when the water is the right temp.

I'm down for co-ed bathrooms. At least you know what you are walking into then. You have a choice to use it or not, instead of being tricked into thinking you have some level of privacy / security.

Stafford Wayside comes to mind. Co-ed restrooms would wind up being the room folks would use when told to " get a room".

I am probably one of the more transgender-rights friendly people on this forum....

If you are under the age of majority, then you use the restroom according to your gender. If that's a problem, use the faculty's facilities or similar.

If you over the age of majority, use the restroom for which you'd cause least discomfort for others. Use some common freaking sense. If you're a transgender woman to man and have everything but the penis, but have no breasts and a beard, then you know what - I don't care if you use the men's room (since I won't be looking), but if you walk into the women's room when I am standing outside and my wife's in there, we're going to have an issue.

My wife and I have discussed this, and it's the parents of children - some too young to truly understand gender - pushing to allow their children to declare their gender identity on a day to day basis that bothers us. You are allowing children that truly don't understand sex and gender to dictate policy to adults. Also, that just screams to be abused by Billy or Nancy that want to get a good eyeful. "Damn, my date didn't let me get to third base, and I am REALLY curious, so I think I'll say I am the other gender today."
