Christie endorses Trump

Post by Swampman »

Christie has come out for Trump. Think this wasn't pre-arranged with the promise of a cabinet post? Don't be delusional.

This author makes a good point I haven't heard til now.

http://theresurgent.com/the-importance- ... mediately/
Trump is also a con-artist and the media, which has built his campaign is going to destroy his campaign. After he secures the Republican nomination, the media will trot out every victim and perceived victim of Trump’s actions. All the people hurt by repeated strategic bankruptcies, all the people swindled by Trump University, and anyone who got food poisoning from Trump steaks will be in a 24/7 cavalcade on national television.

By the time the media and Democrats, but I repeat myself, are done with Trump, he will be radioactive.

Donald Trump will not win in November. Period. End of story.
I think this guy is "dead-on-balls-accurate" with this prediction. I wonder if Trump knows this and thinks he can beat the rap, or is he too narcissistic to see it?

Hmm... Trump or Hillary?
Still not a hard choice for most people, even if will be as you say.

I don't care for Trump. He is an authoritarian demagogue. Like most halfway successful demagogues, he's selling his followers on generalities to placate frustration. I will go against conventional wisdom and say that he will defeat Hillary Clinton.

Trump's strongest fuel is a rabid dislike of a sheltered class of politicians and officials. There is a class of government officials and employees who make the rules, but never feel the consequences of those rules. Think of all the regulators in the US Government who make onerous regulations, or who pass trade agreements with negative effects on jobs. Trump plays to the unsheltered individuals with a hatred of a sheltered class of government 'insiders'.

Hillary embodies every generality that fuels Trump's campaign. People who rabidly agree with these attitudes are falling into line with Trump largely. Hillary Clinton's negatives play perfectly into every one of Trump's strengths. Sure, Trump Steaks/University were a sham, and his taxes are probably cooked. She has just as many, if not more, scandals and negative facets that he could raise. So I will go against conventional wisdom and say that Trump would win against Hillary. What an awful set of choices in a general election, if it comes down to it.

If we end up with Trump vs Hillary, which is looking like a very realistic possibility, I will cast my vote for Donald Trump.

I will feel far better, after casting that vote, then I did after voting for Romney (which was really a vote against Barry), and McCain (also a vote against Barry).

I can't speak to Trump Steaks; I had forgotten about them. But, now that I have been reminded, I recall checking the pricing, and laughing at the stupidly high pricing. Really, anyone that paid those prices scammed themselves.

When you get down to it, the Republican Party is to blame (or thank, depending on your perspective ) for Trump. The GOP has been reduced to a spineless organization, devoid of standard or principle, and folks are surprised that a forceful man who makes bold statements, in defiance of the usual bullies, becomes popular with the casually engaged conservatives? Come now. Love Trump or hate him, his success in politics, thus far, should be no great shock. The man projects force and power (whether it's real or artificial is irrelevant to his popularity). Instead of deriding Trump, the GOP should have been taking notes. But, no, the GOP is convinced that Americans really want weakness, we want more mediocrity, we want more betrayal. The GOP is certain that we don't mind giving our employment opportunities to illegal immigrants, or send those opportunities overseas to foriegn nations.

Trump came out and said, "We'll build a wall! We'll deport illegal leeches!" And people say, "Yeah; I've been saying that for years!" Islamic Terrorists shoot up a Christmas party, so Trump says, "Ban Muslims! And folks respond, "Absolutely! Sounds great!"

This ain't rocket science.

I hope that it isn't a Trump-Hillary choice, but you're right that it probably will be. At that point, I'd probably bolt and vote third party at the presidential level. I'd still vote Republican at the lower levels.

That would DEFINITELY be a vote for Hillary.

Ted Cruz is the only true Second Amendment supporter on the ballot. Trump and Rubio both have miserable records when it comes to gun rights. Of course, we all know where Hillary and Sanders stand when it comes to freedom and personal liberty.

BULL-FREAKING-FEATHERS! Let's stop continuing the GOP fear-mongering of "a vote for one person might as well be a vote for another." Don't you get it? It's fear mongering! The GOP (which ain't so grand anymore) has been using this tactic for a long time. People of conscience, who vote their conscience, are tagged as turn-coats giving the election away to the other side because they vote with their mind instead of the herd.

IT'S NOT OUR FREAKING FAULT! If the gosh-dang GOP would put up a stinking candidate we could gather round, maybe we wouldn't be in such turmoil, AND MAYBE WE'D TAKE BACK OUR DAMNED COUNTRY!

It's time to throw out all traitors out in this November election. Take advantage of the momentum.

I'd still vote my conscience and live with that. In my view, Trump shows an alarming disregard for the Constitution and principles of limited government. He has plenty of conservative-sounding goals, but then he advocates massive expansions of federal power to achieve them. Then he has a bundle of authoritarian goals, not the least of which is severe reduction of the First Amendment. I would not lend my hand in that. I would vote for someone else, at least more respectful of the Constitution and limited government, and go down to loss with my vote just as soon.
