Springfield XDm .40

Post by LFS »

Finally got my new Springfield XDm .40 out to the range today during lunch.
All I can say is, OH YEAH!

I put 70 rounds through it no problem. The first 50 rounds were American Eagle FMJ. This was the ammo I got with the gun.

Then I put 20 rounds of Winchester JHP defense ammo. I wanted to know how it fed and shot (very important if I intend to carry). Here are the results at 7 yards (that being the distance a knife wielding maniac can cover while you attempt to get off one shot).

Not bad considering this is now the most powerful handgun I own. The next closest is the Five-seveN, which has nothing near this amount of recoil.

When I last shot my friends 9mm H&K P30, I was all over the place. But this XDm just feels really good in my hand.

Now to clean it using the .40 cal brush in the universal cleaning kit I won at the VGOF OC picnic.

I just put a Pachmayr Tactical Grip Sleeve on my XDm9, and it really made it feel much better.

Congrats on your XDm

I ordered a bore snake and some dummy rounds from Rick, so I'm almost all set to go. Waiting on a holster from Desantis. I did take it out to the range this morning. Put 48 rounds of Winchester FMJ target ammo through it... had one jam. I don't blame the gun for that though... I think I limped wristed the previous shot.

But its a great gun. Once I get some holster-draw time done with it, I plan on switching to it for my concealed carry.

My DeSantis OWB holster showed up in the mail today. So, I've now got the XDm on my strong side. I have to say, it feels light. This past weekend I wore my FN FiveseveN in a Galco OWB. This DeSantis/XDm setup seems just as light if not lighter, holds a little tighter to my body, and seems thinner too.

NICE shooting !!!
Be particular, and be vigilant, as the enemy will only attack on two occasions:
When you're ready or when you're not ready.

Also never forget, that everyone who shows up, is not necessarily there to help.

I've put 450 rounds through my XDm40 without a hiccup...love takin it to the range. Added a SS Don's guide rod for faster follow ups and some xtreme grip tape from PRP, next will be some night sights. Any suggestions???
