HJ 3 HAS PASSED THE HOUSE.

Post by dorminWS »

BREAKING NEWS:

Today, February 16th 2016 just prior to noon, the Virginia House of Delegates agreed to HJ 3, our application for a Convention of the States (COS) to propose amendments to the US Constitution to limit Federal power. I was honored to be the chief patron of this resolution with my friend (and Chief Co-Patron) Delegate Lee Ware, a true patriot.

Now Virginia joins Arizona (this year - and still moving), Arkansas, Indiana (this year - and still moving), Iowa, Louisiana, North Dakota, New Mexico (this year - and still moving), Oklahoma, Missouri, and Texas who have passed the resolution in one house.

If the Senate of Virginia stands with us on the resolution, Virginia will join Georgia, Florida, Alaska, Alabama, and Tennessee in passing the resolution in both houses.

There are 28 other states who are considering this resolution this year and hopefully, we will have the two-thirds of states we need to have enough applications before Congress.

For several years, the anti-COS forces have falsely characterized this resolution using every fear tactic they could find. They will not let up. So please let your State Senator know that you are solidly with us on the COS application. You can find who your State Senator is here.

I am very grateful to my colleagues in the House of Delegates for their support of this effort. But much work remains ahead of us.

Sincerely,

Scott (Lingamfelter)

Someone explain to me how this is a good thing? Having a bunch of modern politicians deciding the fate of the Constitution does NOT bode well in my opinion. Please. Someone convince me otherwise.

I don't trust them either.

They at least think they've constrained them by the terms of HJ3 to do no harm. It worries me too, but I don't thin k we'll get beneficial change any other way; we'll just continue on down the road to hell at an ever increasing pace.

The original 13 States had a monumental task with the original Constitution. It will be greater this time around. We obviously are in need of some decentralization and this is our option for that goal. Our States government is more sensitive to our wishes, so...

At Rev; right now, this is just a "thing", not good, not bad. Time will tell which it is.

It does cause a little puckering in the hindquarters, though.

COS is another example of something that looks good on the surface but starts getting murky the more it's stirred up. In a way, it reminds me of the Tea Party movement when it first started. I thought that was a great idea until it splintered into a dozen separate factions that refused to interact with the others.

So I guess I'll have to watch, listen and wait. And it probably wouldn't hurt to pray a little too.

That's the thing with Tea Parties; they're all made up of independently minded people. It's virtually impossible to get everyone on the same track.

Compare that to Liberal factions; everybody has a "group identity" thing going on. It's easy to get all of them banded together. Give them a threat of being shunned by their "friends", and they'll do whatever they're commanded.
