1. VCDL membership meeting in Newport News on February 17
**************************************************************

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, February 17 from 7:30 to 9:30, for a VCDL membership meeting in Newport News!

Location: Newport News Police Community Education And Outreach Center, 10188 Warwick Blvd. Newport News, VA 23601

Topic: We will be discussing the “deal” on reciprocity, the status of the other current legislation, including undoing the Governor’s state-agency gun ban, a look at some self-defense scenarios from a legal perspective, and taking Q&A from attendees.

The location is just South of Historic Hilton Village. We'll use the meeting room to the left of the museum. Parking is limited, but for a couple more months, we can park next door at the Hilton Tavern, in front and in back, thanks to member Ken Taylor’s father-in-law, who owns that property! Additional parking is available at the public tennis courts, a block north, on Hopkins/Municipal Lane, near the railroad tracks.

As with all VCDL membership meetings, this one is open to the public, so bring along friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers!

2. VCDL membership meeting in Annandale on February 11
**************************************************************

VCDL’s monthly Annandale membership meeting is on Thursday, February 11. Fellowship begins at 7:30 PM, with the meeting called to order at 8 PM and adjourning at 9:30 PM.

We will be discussing the “deal” on reciprocity, the status of the other current legislation, including undoing the Governor’s state-agency gun ban, a look at some self-defense scenarios from a legal perspective, and taking Q&A from attendees.

As with all VCDL membership meetings, this one is open to the public, so bring along friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers!

3. Reminder - Prince William meeting on removing the fee for a CHP is tomorrow
**************************************************************

The idea is simple: it’s bad enough that we have to get a permit to exercise our right to self defense with a concealed handgun, but we should not have to pay for that permit.

Corey Stewart, Prince William Board of Supervisors member, is putting forth a measure to provide FREE CHPs to residents of Prince William County. In tandem with that effort, Senator Amanda Chase has a bill that would make the $10 fee that a Circuit Court Clerk can charge for processing a CHP optional and not mandatory. Chase’s bill is going to be heard in the Senate Finance committee on Wednesday morning.

BIG TURNOUT NEEDED - EVEN NON-PRINCE WILLIAM GUN OWNERS

It’s important that we have a BIG turnout at the Board of Supervisors meeting in support of this effort. We expect the idea to spread to other localities if this is successful! Look for someone handing out GSL stickers.

Date: Tuesday, February 9
Time: 2 PM

Location:

Board of County Supervisors Chambers
1 County Complex Court
Woodbridge, VA 22192

IF YOU HAVEN’T YET DONE SO, PLEASE CONTACT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
