Moving

Post by widefat »

I am taking the wife moving to higher ground. Well, at least a bit higher ground. Moving south.
I wish we could move back to my hometown in Pulaski County, but, we want to be near my wife's parents.

How do I know it's time to move?
- many recent used car dealers in town have "Credit" somewhere in the name. "Credit Maxx", "Credit Kings", and are buy here/pay here.
They dont advertise the price of the car, but heavily push "only $500 down" and "your name is your credit"
- A couple of Title Loan and payday loans have opened
- I cant order at Wendy's without an interpreter
- We have a Panera Bread AND a Chipotle.
- Kovinian Homes just opened a new Stepford Family development.

Sorry, it is a far cry from what it was 20 years ago when we moved to the area. I hope the place we are moving too is at least 20 years away from this.

We are moving this month, God and Weather permitting.
We are both felling like kids again. I have the spots for the orchard and garden picked out, and have a general idea of where I am going
to put the "shooting range". The house needs a LOT of work - and I love renovation work.

Best of luck on the move. Hope it's got that "20 years behind" thing you're looking for. I'm considering a move, or at least a land purchase, in the next 6-8 years. Many of the same reasons factor in to my decision, although we don't have Panera or Chipotle in Front Royal yet. We will have a new 800+ house subdivision in the next few years though so that will likely bring more miscreants. What we do have here is a horrible heroin (I ain't talkin' Wonder Woman!) problem.

Envy you WideFat... I was born, and raised here. I have family stretching back to Colonial Williamsburg on both sides, some are buried in the Confederate Section of Churches...

...and the infestation from D.C., and Carpetbaggers has me looking WAY down South for my retirement.

You cannot stand in the middle of a fire, and piss on it, to put it out.
