Tired.
Tired of being lied to by politicians.
Tired of kids being stupid, and it's "okay" with adults.
Tired of adults being stupid, and it's "okay" because it's in fashion.
Tired of people not taking pride in their work ethic, and doing everything halfazzed.
Tired of living in the flat land, and need my legs on a slanted keel.
Tired of people moving to my Commonwealth, and screwing it up.
Tired of family being worst to me than total strangers.
Tired. Just plain, and simple.

Re: Tired.
Back up a step, ole buddy.
What you've described is just life, the way I see it.
Not good to get tired of living.
You need a little "INDEPENDENT AS A HOG ON ICE" therapy. Repeat after me:
"F*ck 'em if they can't take a joke; likewise if they're just plain damn stupid." - - -and cleave unto that mantra.
Remember:
You can educate ignorant,
and you can medicate crazy;
but there ain't no way to fix stupid.
If you can't fix it, it's pointless to let yourself be worried or aggravated by it.
You just have to resolve to let the stupidity of others roll off you like water off'n a duck's back and do what you've gotta do.

Re: Tired.
I think the main issue being that when you show an aptitude for handling problems, and stressful situations, better than the average... you get piled upon.
What makes me aggravated is the whole world has bought into the "style over substance" philosophy with "Perception is reality" mentality.
Just tired. 2015 wasn't good. Still some residual.
And I would like to wake up daily in a location that isn't any less than 1000 feet above sea level.

Re: Tired.
None of you in this forum have ever met me. You don't really know anything about me except for my responses to discussions, and my postings. I stay here and continue to interact because I find a kinship of ideas and beliefs that is, to a certain degree, comforting. Can we call each other "friends?" As much as I'd like to think we could, I don't think you know me well enough to label me with that moniker.
To me, there are three kinds of people in the world - friends, acquaintances, and people I tolerate because there is no open season on them.
With that blather out of the way, let me tell you what I have done to avoid most of the crap that you find yourself dealing with.
1. Cut the cord - get rid of pay TV services and go back to an antenna. I don't get many stations out here, and I like it that way.
2. Stop watching the news - it's depressing.
3. Read what you want to get the content you are interested in, not what the progressives, conservatives, or anyone else wants you to see.
4. And, last (at least until I think of something new), follow the sage advice from Dorm -

And, for the record, I'm only at about 650' above sea level and it ain't bad here. It isn't the elevation, it's the inhabitants."F*ck 'em if they can't take a joke; likewise if they're just plain damn stupid." - - -and cleave unto that mantra.

Re: Tired.
At times I thought '15 would never end . I lost two life long friends in '15 and another is very sick. Work is very slow and people I deal with everyday are way different than the way my customers use to be . I'm also tired of Northerner's move to VA to retire and want to change everything. Carol and I do limit our News intake these days . Too much can't be good for you . We spend most of our weekends at our Cabin ....No TV , No internet , No schedules. Only our iPhones and we use them as little as possible . We do a lot of shooting and working around the property occupies most of our time. It's good for both of us just to be outdoors spending time in the woods . Sometimes we all need a little break from Life !

Re: Tired.
Or better yet, create a life you don't need a break from.
A lot of my customers have asked me over the years "how come you don't take much vacation time?" I tell them it's because I've created a life I don't need to escape from.

Democracy does not guarantee equality of conditions - it only guarantees equality of opportunity.
Re: Tired.
Funny, I've kind of done that, but never really thought of it that way. I work out of my house, don't have any employees, keep my clients happy, and do what I want the rest of the time. Finally! A description for what I do!create a life you don't need a break from.

I don't want to give you lessons, but if you don't fight tooth and nail every day you will be run over by the communists. If you don't run the extra mile you can't complain. That's what the generation of my grandfather did, and we were fcked for the next 50 years.
All political power comes from the barrel of a gun. The communist party must command all the guns, that way, no guns can ever be used to command the party - Mao Tse Tung

Same here. Remote work which equates to part time hours. Weekends off too. Keep the clients happy. Do what you want the rest of the time. Mindful of the current events that I can't change but focus on the smaller more personal things that I can change. Less stress and life is good.Swampman wrote:Funny, I've kind of done that, but never really thought of it that way. A few days ago during a warm day I was outside doing some yard work without a care in the world. T'was a good day indeed.

You know it is hard. Really really hard. I have been very discouraged of late. Somehow someway legal or illegally the left is going to get nasty and then we will be left defenseless against an even greater foe......the barbarian hordes the term On our borders of every creed.
I continue in my course. Because at someone point of my family and mine survive my grand babies will look at me and ask me what I did to try and preserve their freedom, and I do not wish to hang my head at that moment.

Re: Tired.
Mamabear, I admire your gumption and understand your sentiment.
I've learned that for some battles, I am more effective in a support role. So I contribute to the NRA, VCDL and others who fight those battles in which I would be just another casualty. For other battles, I engage the opposition face-to-face and do my best.
For all the battles fought, it seems we are being run over by the hoards. Maybe for a little while, but not forever. History, I believe, will bear this out. We survived Carter's misery index and came roaring back. We'll survive our current misery, maybe 8 more years of it, and come roaring back.
Part of the trick is to not abandon hope. Do what you can when you can, and the rest of the time keep your head down and bull forward.

You know I don't remember Regan. The first president I ever voted for was W. Bush. So from my limited perspective I feel like we are bailing water on a sinking ship. I hope like heck you are right. That is why I am a member of the NRA and I think VCDL. I really should up my Membership to a lifer level in the NRA.

Re: Tired.
I remember Reagan being President; but I was too young to be concerned about politics. I wasn't too concerned during the Bush I administration, either. I was in 7th grade during Clintons first run for the Presidency; I remember that I didn't much care for him, but my main reason, at the time, was that he was unfaithful to his wife.
I didn't really start paying attention to politics, though, until the end of 2001. Even then, it took me a while to understand what it was that I actually believed, politically. It was a series of sermons on the Lords Prayer, interestingly, that got me to dissect everything that I believed, and to consider the implications.
