Texas Open Carry
So as of today US residents of Texas are now allowed to open carry with proper licensing of course. I've never really put much thought into whether or not I would ever open carry other than the fact that if I lived there I would carry OWB with my shirt or jacket covering rather than IWB.
There's been a ton of debate on the local pages I'm on over why or why not to open carry and keep hearing the same scenario used as the main argument against open carry. The bad guy comes into the store or where ever you may be at the time and notices you have gun on your hip and you immediately become his first target before he proceeds with his previously planned crime.
My issue with this is that I've never heard of a single scenario where this has played out. Maybe some of you have and could enlighten me. (Other than the story of the liberal wacko that went bat poop on that guy in Walmart after seeing he was concealed carrying)
Generally from what I've seen is most robbers, terrorists and whack jobs looking to take as many lives as possible go after soft targets. Wouldn't seeing that people are armed act as more of a deterrent rather than make the armed CCW folks a target?

Re: Texas Open Carry
The advantages of open carry vs. concealed are lost on me, especially being that the OC'er needs a permit to do so. But it's still a victory for Texans if only that it shows what citizens can do if they stand up and fight for freedom.
Here's all the rules and regs from the Texas DPS:

Let's hope they don't start seeing incidents like this in the Lone Star state.

Supposedly ( too lazy to confirm a non-issue ) printing could result in charges being filed...when Texas says concealed they mean it. Open carry being legal, there should be no problem.

Re: Texas Open Carry
People in states without open carry have been hassled because of things like printing or a firearm briefly showing while you're bending over or something like that. While you can debate the preference of OC vs CC, having strong open carry availability in every state should be a must.
