Stag Arms pleads guilty to federal gun charges

Post by OakRidgeStars »

I've been following this story but I still don't understand why Stag was cranking out AR lowers without serial numbers. Especially for full auto rifles.
According to court documents, ATF inspectors found thousands of unserialized lower receivers, including machine gun lower receivers, during an inspection in July 2014. The agency took a sample of 3,000 and found that more than 300 could not be reconciled. In the end, the investigation revealed that Stag failed to keep records for 136 unserialized lower receivers.
It's no surprise that ATF pulled out the big hammer for this one.

sounds like they used the hammer from a 3-year olds tool set that squeaks when you hit something.

1 year in jail for the prez, and that's it? for MANY unregistered machine guns.

Maybe this was a plea deal arrangement? Maybe Stag Arms had a "special" customer that requested machine gun lowers with no serial numbers?

Maybe I need to go find my double wall tin foil hat now.

Maybe there was one batch that wasn't quite finished and maybe there was a day or two delay in getting that work-in-process inventory into the stamping machine for serial numbers. Maybe the whole thing is a Democrat frame-up job. We'll never know as long as the Dems control the machinery of our "justice" system.

It's not unusual to take a plea bargain when the alternative is scorched-earth prosecution. Government threatens people and businesses with that all the time.

When my DH was finishing his degree in criminal justice we read about how prosecutions are done. Y'all. Sometimes and far too often ethics and whether or not a person actually committed a crime is the last thing on the prosecutors mind.

Lets be careful in judging.

Remember, the second is quite clear, and the laws are technically void.

Remember BATFE has a LONG history of nefarious fame-ups.

Also, a guilty plea does not mean they were knowingly guilty (ie did this with intent).

Lastly, you should know errors occur in manufacturing, and people make mistakes. Its 136 lowers that actually lacked serials in the end.
