Ulster County Sheriff: All Licensed Handgun Owners Should Carry Them

n light of recent events that have occurred in the United States and around the world I want to encourage citizens of Ulster County who are licensed to carry a firearm to please do so,” wrote Sheriff Paul J. Van Blarcum in a Facebook post. “I urge you to responsibly take advantage of your legal right to carry a firearm. To ensure the safety of yourself and others, make sure you are comfortable and proficient with your weapon, and knowledgeable of the laws in New York State with regards to carrying a weapon and when it is legal to use it.”

What I find irritating about this little epiphany is, we always wanted the option to defend ourselves. We shouldn't be at war on US soil for the people to get it. I should have the equal right to defend myself from both ISIS and petty thief with a knife or a gun.

Sheriff uses his God-Given 1A right to advocate those to use their God-given 2A right (well, in THIS case, only those LICENSED to use their God-given 2A right); negative responses from those using their God-given 1A right to state their opposition that he advocate use of the God-given 2A right.

It all makes sense to me.

Sheriff in Lewis county NY also is following suit. Word is, more NY sheriffs will make public statements soon.

The N. Y. Sheriffs association wrote a letter to the effect that they would not support provisions of the Safe Act dealing with new magazine limits and banned weapons. These new comments show consistency of thought.
