One night in Paris...

Post by Reverenddel »

Tell me again how Islam is a religion of peace? Cuz' I haven't heard a single Mosque or Cleric denounce this bullshittery yet.

Very strict gun control in France and in Paris:

Liberal ideology plus gun control = disaster.

According to John Lott and the Crime Prevention Research Center, most states have issued CHP's to between 10% and 12% of the states population. If Paris was like VA or PA, the scum who killed the people in the theater would have been outgunned more that 2 to 1.

Instead, guns are almost completely outlawed, the bad guys smuggled 100% illegal automatic weapons and explosives into the country and all the good people could do is stand there and die.

The first post in this thread had me TOTALLY confused.
Luckily a thread on another forum had mentioned Paris and Friday the 13th with this link:

Terrorists slaughter at least 118 in Paris music hall, 40 others in separate attacks
Terrorists wielding AK-47s and hurling explosives executed at least 118 people inside a Paris concert hall late Friday night, in a massacre that followed coordinated attacks that killed at least 40 more people, rocking the French capital -- prompting President Francois Hollande to close the entire nation's borders and order a state of emergency.

French police said early Saturday they believed all of the attackers were dead but they were still searching for possible accomplices. The French prosecutor's office said seven of the eight assailants died in suicide bombings, the Associated Press reported.

At least 200 people were injured in the attacks, 80 of them seriously, according to Agence France Press, citing a security source.

This is a sad day for Paris, for France and for the world. Prayers are certainly in order from anyone thus minded. Keep your arms nearby.

Bloomberg's group wasted no time in their attempt to exploit this tragedy and blame it on gun violence.

How long before this happens in our country? The sooner Bloomberg and his cronies have us disarmed, the sooner we will burying our own countryman.

While I agree that this would play different in rural Virginia, hell rural America for that matter.....the one thing that might not have helped as much in this concert scene... Every concert I've been to in the last 20yrs or so, has had a weapons ban. Most have frisks, metal detectors, & security with wands at the entrances. Especially true at Metal concerts. At least that has been my experience.

I go to concerts frequently. Well... maybe 5 or 6 times a year. I think that is frequently anyway. Any concert I have been to that had searches and metal detectors, also had a ton of physical security and police on scene (likely paid for with the profits from the $10+ solo-cup of beer) and 10,000 plus people in the crowd. Especially "Live Nation" events. This type of attack would never been allowed to start at a venue like that. Even if they tried shooting people in parking... the cops would be on them in seconds.

Now, the small theaters and large bars where you have 100-200 people for a show... like one of the places attacked in Paris... they post signs and that's the end of it. I almost never consume alcohol, so I carry at those places all the time.

What I can't believe is, the laxed security at the stadium where the Prime Minister attended an event. How the hell did that happen?

I dislike going to concerts. Too many people, and the food and beer are blatantly overpriced. I much prefer watching a local band playing in a small hole in the wall bar.

Hitting Paris is particularly cowardly. Maybe France will learn something from this.

I'm as much in favor concealed carry as anyone--but this isn't a problem that's going to be solved no matter how many of of us are armed and prepared as individuals. This is a global war, prosecuted against us and against other western countries by an enemy that is organized, sophisticated, and very well financed. It will be solved in a successful way only when the sources of our enemies' strength have been demolished. We know exactly where those sources are. That means offense, not defense. We're still not going to see that anytime soon. And that's not just because our current national leadership is completely unwilling to go after the real sources, it's because even the majority of our fellow citizens still believe that some less expensive way to deal with this problem could work...

I agree, but we can't make the military forces of the world to take action. We can't even get our nation to take action. The only option left for us is self defense.

I went to an event at a Baptist Church today. Massive festival... possibly 1,500 people or more walking around. I was carrying two pistols with two spare mags (60 pistol rounds) and I had my 300 Blackout with 3 mags. Total of 150 rounds. Some whack job Jihadist decides to mess with the Church... I may not make it out, but I'm not going to punk out.

You probably weren't the only armed guy there. I know a lot of Baptists; most of them carry.

Better to die standing, than groveling on one's knees.

And I HATE the video that the guv'mint put out saying "Hide if their is a mass shooter in your building."

Um... how about a litany of angry folks take his ass out? Just sayin'...

And "Go along with the hijackers and you won't get hurt". Just full of good ideas about how to behave when put upon, huh?

My concern is Black Friday with 10's of thousands lined up in the cold that early morning distracted waiting to get into the store, all lined up like sitting ducks and ripe for a couple of terrorists for a drive by.
