All you have to do is tell them that gun registration and confiscation won't work except to harm law abiding citizens and then show them what comes up when you do this:

Decades ago I was stationed with a Navy electronics technician that was a hobbyist gunsmith.
He used a Unimat (a small metal lathe/mill) to make several handguns INCLUDING an entire 1911.
I saw his tools that he made to machine the cavities for the two part bullet molds that he made to be able to make his own bullets.
I also saw the rifled barrels he had made that those bullets fitted.
If I still had my father's circa 1945 Logan Metal lathe I could probably make some pretty serviceable firearms myself.
