Obama’s New Attorney General Launches Massive Assault on Gun

Obama’s New Attorney General Launches Massive Assault on Gun Owners… Here’s Her Plan

In a renewed assault on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens, President Barack Obama’s new head of the Department of Justice, Loretta Lynch, was set to implement a long list of new gun control measures — some as soon as November.

The rest of the executive rules were slated to be in place by the time Obama leaves office and included new restrictions on certain firearms, new storage requirements and more ways to control a segment of Americans from obtaining firearms in the first place.

One of the new criteria proposed to disqualify people from gun ownership is if they’ve been “convicted of a misdemeanor domestic violence,” which is unfair, according to Michael Hammond of Gun Owners of America, because that “could be (someone) who spanked his kid, or yelled at his wife, or slapped her husband.”

The new rules will also expand the existing disqualification rules to those who have less severe mental health histories, as millions of law-abiding citizens do. “The Obama administration is trying very hard to disqualify people from owning a gun on the basis that they are seeing a psychologist,” Hammond said.

Statistically, most people who visit a psychologist don’t pose a threat to society and the National Rifle Association labeled the new mental health-based rules as “snares” for “masses of mostly harmless individuals.”

In fact, since millions of Americans hold the Second Amendment so dear to their hearts, expanding rules banning from gun ownership those with harmless mental health issues could be dangerous, as many may forgo routine mental health treatment in order to remain eligible to purchase firearms.

“Not only is this unjust and stigmatizing, it creates disincentives for those who need mental health treatment to seek it, increasing whatever risks are associated with untreated mental illness,” an NRA spokesperson said (H/T Breitbart).

It looks like Eric Holder’s replacement, Lynch, is the one Obama was waiting for to resume his administration’s attacks on the Second Amendment rights of all Americans.

Only a matter of time imo. Pols on both sides acknowledge the "mental health" problem in America. Only a matter of time before minor issues create gun restrictions for lots of Americans. Lots of people are on Prozac, & other anti-depression drugs. People in these situations will lose their rights imo, at some point down the road. Could be as simple as a widow dealing with the loss of her husband. A person dealing with a divorce. Instead of keeping it to themselves, they talk to their doctor, & seek some temporary help. All the while, not realizing big brother is watching, & I personally believe that these type of scenarios will lead to "temporary" bans for these people.

Again, it's mostly good people that will suffer. People trying to get out of their personal funk. Instead they will be penalized for "doing the right thing", or seeking assistance. The end result will be..... less people seeking assistance that could use a hand kicking sorrow or depression.

I'll never understand how penalizing good people makes anybody safer from whackos. Once again though, the answer to some nut job killing innocent people is..... penalizing the people who didn't do it.

Viper21 - I like your closing comment above.

What makes it funny, gun owners are considered "second-class citizens". We jump more hoops, and have more restrictions than people who smoke weed, or wanna marry same sex.

When did protecting yourself become a BAD thing!?!?

Some people were born into unfortunate circumstances, and must pillage and plunder just to survive long enough to see the next day. When those of us who were born into more desirable situations attempt to prevent the poor derelicts from doing what they must, it's unfair. It makes Barry weep. Hearts begin to bleed.

Or something.

This will only make things worse as people on meds will stop to keep their rights and then lose the control they had and end up killing people. The answer to fighting fire has always been fire. Sometimes you need the right man in wrong the place at the wrong time!
