Ben Carson Talks About Gun Control

Post by SHMIV »

It looks like Carson has come to a better understanding of the Second Amendment.

Just as I predicted. Carson is a highly intelligent, principled guy. When he doesn't know enough about something, he can study it and reach good conclusions. There is no requirement that anyone be a lawyer to be President.

Given the average track record of experienced politicians in the Oval Office lately, I don't see why political experience should be a prerequisite, either.

As much fun as Trump has been (I have thoroughly enjoyed his campaigning), of the three non-politicians with their hat in the ring, I like Carson best.

On the whole, though, I haven't yet made up my mind. I still have some time to make a decision, and there's still time for more candidates to drop out.

I'm with you, SHMIV. I enjoy Trump's campaign but deep down in don't think he would be the right one to run our country. I too am waiting to see who remains in the running for the long haul. The Primary elections will be interesting, however. The General election will likely be pretty easy as long as we end up with a true Republican candidate.

As glade as I am to read this, It irritates me to no end that damn near everyone completely misses the fact that the Founders and Framers included the rights of the people to keep and bare arms in Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution by leaving the power of the military to the states and the state militia. In fact, two states refused to ratify the Constitution until they got guaranties that an amendment would be added, and indeed did not ratify the Constitution until after the Second Amendment.

The Second Amendment was literally added to solidify the fact that the rights of the PEOPLE will not be infringed on. They didn't want there to be any misunderstanding that the Constitution has provisions to keep the power in the hands of the people.

Please stop talking about the President "running the country". That is only true if you believe that the government runs the country - i.e., controls the people. That is not the American way. That is fascism. The president only runs the government, and only one branch of it at that. The first candidate who clearly states that he believes this has the inside track for my vote.

Bob, you hit on a key point.

It irritates me when I hear the President referred to as a "leader", unless it refers specifically to his position as Commander in Chief of the military.

The office of President of the United States of America was never intended to be a leadership position over the American people. Free people do not have a leader. Or, rather, they lead themselves or are led by their religion. Even if they are led by religion, they still have a choice in the matter.

I think you guys misread it. I though it say he was ruining the country, not running it.
