Yeah.... not a fan of the Trump tax plan.
I haven't had a chance to deeply consider it, but it DOES seem a little better than the current tax system, much like hitting a flock of pigs in your truck is better than hitting an oncoming school bus.
I prefer a percentage based system, that's the same for everyone.

Re: The Donald's tax plan
The plan is economically unworkable, intellectually inconsistent, and unconstitutional. It does not address the confiscation of earnings (in a Ponzi scheme) through the Social Security tax which affects everyone at all income levels (though offset by the EIC for many). Ending the deferral of overseas earnings would encourage inversions and offshore incorporation, because other countries do not tax foreign-based business income. As said above, the idea that some people do not share in the cost of government, therefore thinking of it as "free" is abhorrent. Those who do not pay for government but perceive that they benefit from it will have an unlimited demand for more of it.
This plan, once its failings are explained to the public, should have the effect of beginning Trump's fall among Republican voters, allowing the genuine candidates to get their deserved share of attention.
I believe that the polls are being manipulated by the media (Dem operatives with bylines) to tout Trump, because the Dems would love to run against him and they are trying to minimize the real candidates, whom they fear.
A comprehensive tax reform plan must include the repeal of Social Security and Medicare on a phase-out basis to be replaced by tax incentives for private retirement savings plans. Only when we stop the exponential growth of these programs will our government be able to live within tax revenues.

I'm not sure how his tax plan can possibly balance the budget as well as pay for his new universal healthcare plan.

Everyone needs to pay something. I think 10 % across the board is fair for an income tax, or instead if an income tax, some kind of consumption tax.FiremanBob wrote:....... Re: The Donald's tax plan
I was thinking more along the lines of 9%, max.
But, really, I think that the country could operate comfortably on less. Simplification of the tax code is only part of fixing the national money problem. We also have to do away with a great many bureaucracies. The bureaucies that we keep must be scaled back. The way we pay our politicians has to be rethought.
The freeloaders in our prisons are expensive. Execute the death row inmates immediately. No need to keep them around. Serving life sentences. Shorten the sentences; execute them next. Put the remaining prisoners to work. They don't work, they don't eat. No more work out facilities or television. After busting rocks from sun up to sun down, they'll have had a work out and be too tired for TV, anyway. No more of this "white collar" prison bs, either. The million dollar embezzler gets the same hole in the wall jail as the urban mugger.
So much more to do...

Re: The Donald's tax plan
I watched the 60 Minutes interview Sunday night that ShotgunBlast refers to. That "Government's gonna pay for it" line caught me. Trump is an idiot, and I'm hopeful that Bob's prediction that once his tax plan is explained it'll turn off a lot of Republicans is spot on. Somehow I can't hold my breath for that one. We have plenty of morons on our side too.
I still have a sneaky hunch he's working for the Dems.
