Hello All

Post by dooleey »

Hey everyone out there in VA i am another proud gun owner, and gun right's supporter...
I come from the Newport New's area, and would love to know the real truth about Gun's in churches... I know the law states without sufficient reason but is there anyone who has ever taken this to court to clearly define sufficient reason....

:welcome: dooleey. I'm not sure if the issue of carrying has been taken to court but IMHO the interpretation of "good and sufficient" will be intrerpreted differently based on different factors. The reason given by the gun owner, current events, past record if any of the gun owner, mood of the prosecutor, how the gun was discovered, etc, etc. Thats the problem with a loophole in the law. We will interpret "good and sufficient" one way while someone else will see if differently.

Obviously you want to do this and maybe feel you have good and sufficient reason to do so. If you CC then no one should ever know unless you reveal. I was thinking about this earlier and would hate to see this law challenged in court the way a similar law in TX was challenged. You may have heard about the woman who lost both parents in a restaraunt. She left her gun in the truck because it was illegal to carry inside. A BG crashed his vehicle through the store front and just started shooting. She actually argued before a congressional committee. I'd hate to be the one who felt they had good and sufficient cause to carry in church only to witness or be the victim of a shooting because I left my gun in the truck.

IANAL but I think if you are not violating any laws and feel you have a pressing need to carry in church then you are in compliance. I would recommend if you do so that you carry CC and never reveal unless in defense. By pressing need I mean you can present a compelling argument in court if required. Having said that, the burden of proof would be on you or your attorney who you would have to pay for. It would also be advisable to be aware of how the church leadership feels. Most Christian churches are obviously conservative but in this day you never know which way they might jump when faced with this type of situation.
No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...
