UN Arms Trade Treaty - Letter to My Rep

Post by MarcSpaz »

In light of the POTUS continuing to push forward with the UN Arms Trade Treaty, I have reached out to my Rep and the Senators who represent my area. It is painful to see that all 3 men are Dems.

Anyway... I sent this message. I hope you all reach out to your reps to encourage congress not to ratify this treaty.
I am writing about the UN Arms Trade Treaty that has been signed by Secretary Kerry. I do support the idea of not arming terrorist or enemies of the US and our allies. However, our Nation must remain Sovereign. Agreeing to international laws or treaties that impacts American citizens on US soil, circumventing our Constitution is unfathomable.

Though I am a strong believer in individual rights and feel the steps needed to enact this treaty would grossly infringe on our Constitutional Rights, specifically the Second Amendment, this is more about preserving our Nations sovereignty, laws, and customs... preserving our way of life. Ratifying this treaty would most certainly compromise all of that.

Also, with regard to the Second Amendment, I'm sure you understand that the Amendment is written in plain English and clearly says right of the people to keep and bear Arms “shall not be infringed". Every law passed regulating and restricting access and ownership of weapons, any/all weapons, is a violation of the Constitution.

Rather than debating the merit and intention of the Second Amendment, I will concede that America at large has allowed many of these laws to be put in place to serve the benefit of the people, and some of them are good laws. However, though we have already voluntarily surrendered part of our God given natural right to defend ourselves, that was the choice of the citizens of this Nation, not a global government.

I hope that I can count on you to vote to preserve our sovereignty, our customs, our way of life, and vote against the ratification of any and all treaties that would contradict our national laws or violate the Constitutional Rights of our people, such as the UN Arms Trade Treaty.

Thank you for your time.

Wrote to my rep, but I'm pretty sure Goodlatte would vote against it anyway. Our two Senators are a lost cause.
