Military service to most <---key word...... is personal. A personal endeavor to serve our country. To be a part of history. To honor their country, & protect all of us. Regardless of what the politicians use the military men & women for, most enlist for the reason/s I said. To some it's a career opportunity, to plenty it's simply a matter of honor, service, duty, & a great sense of pride. I believe you'd be hard pressed to find a significant number of military members who give two shits about the motives of politicians. It's about honoring their families, & the people standing next to them.

While, I don't agree with everything the military is commanded to do, I absolutely honor, & respect those that have the sack, & the honor to wear a military uniform.

B960, I dont think the pie chart 'means what you think that it means'.

Two charts - the first shows Mandatory , Discretionary, and interest.
The second breaks down discretionary only, which DoD falls within.

Discretionary is only about 1/3 of the total, and within discretionary, Dod is 1/2. So, I'm not great at math, but I think that means that DoD is only about 13% of the total budget, according to the pie charts.

Another source - DoD (including "other security"), 18%, SS, 24%, Medicaid et al, 24%, Safety Net, 11%

So, roughly half of the budget goes to entitlements. Less than 1/4 to DoD.

Pretty sure this wasn't your fault bro. Other people are responsible for themselves. You have legit concerns... as do we all. Its just that SOMEONE needs to A.) get his facts right; and B.)if SOMEONE has a problem with a particular branch of the government, voice your concerns without disrespecting 98% of the people you are talking to.
