I believe it is a 1855 Colt Root Revolver .

Agreed, the loading lever (that thing bending down where the ejector would be on a modern revolver) and the slide hammer are the indicating factors.

Root is the designers name.

Several years ago I had a shooting buddy that had a replica of a "Root".....44 Cal. I remember that it shot great, but kicked like a Mule.
