Obama gives ISIS Muslim salute

Why did Barack Hussein Obama make the famous ‘One-Finger ISIS’ salute at the African Leaders’ Summit in Washington D.C.?

The Associated Press took this astonishing photo as the African dignitaries joined Obama, who hosted the event, in a State Department auditorium for a group photograph. It was published in an article in Britain’s Daily Mail, and it was the only use ever of the photo.

The one-finger display is the distinctive Muslim gang sign (most notably the sign of ISIS): The index finger points straight up while the thumb wraps underneath and presses against the digital phalange of the middle finger. The remaining fingers are squeezed against the palm in order to highlight the extended forefinger.

The extended finger is symbolic of the one-God concept of Muhammad and is understood by all believers to be a symbolic shahada, the Muslim affirmation of faith: There is but one God and Muhammad is his messenger.

Thus when believers stick their index finger in the air, they demonstrate they are partisans of Muhammad’s God concept. And they also affirm their belief in Muhammad’s claim he was the interface between God and man. They also demonstrate they are part of the umma, the exclusive transtribal supertribe of believers that Muhammad started 1,400 years ago.

With his forefinger in the air, Obama affirmed his membership in this tribe.

Meh, I dislike the guy just as much as most here, but that's kind of stretching it. He could have been pointing back at someone else and laughing by the look of his expression. I'm pretty darn sure too that I have also made this simple gesture while laughing, so I'll have to go with a hard pass on him giving a muslim gang sign on this.

Then the article tries to be a mind-reader of one of the guys in the background. I see the same looks of people when we hold Quarters in the background when they take photos. Some people are smiling, others are neutral faced, others you can tell that they just wish they weren't even there.

If there's some video that puts that photo in context, I would sure like to see it.

But, judging from his apparent body language, I'm in agreement with Coastie.

Really, as much truly and provably horrible things that Barry has under his belt, we don't have to stretch anything.

On the other hand, I don't discourage looking for any indication of Barry's Muslim connections.

While I do believe he is a Muslim sympathizer at the very least, it appears that is a stretch. And the summit was almost a year ago. Someone is looking for excuses.

Barry is most definitely a Muslim sympathizer. It's one of those "enemy of my enemy " things. Barry likes to think that he bonds with Muslims over their hatred of the United States, and he feels united with them over their common desire to see the complete destruction of the United States.

Incidentally, I have my own "one finger salute " that I'd like to throw in Barry's direction.

I dislike his condescending attitude as much as many folks, but reading all that into a photo is a going a little far. He is holding the fingers of his hand in the same manner as someone who holds his hand up high and says "We're number one!!" even though they never played the first second of a game. Of course, since his hand is tilted toward his head and knowing how he loves to rain on people's parades, I can see his hand waving side to side saying "No, no, no you can't say or do that." or something like that. Given his past actions, I still haven't sorted out which sect he is more sympathetic to yet, Shi'ite or Sunni and heaven knows they hate each other, thinking the other is headed down the path to hades...

I don't know, Obamao's fingers are curled while in the reference photo the fingers are held flat against the palm. I don't see it.
