Ole very best buddy got him another 1911.........

Post by dorminWS »

It's a Rock Island Armory M1911 A2 FS-Target (Combo) in .22TCM/9mm. Comes with a barrel, recoil spring and magazine for .22TCM and one for 9mm. I reckon the TCM stands for Tuason-Craig Magnum. 9mm necked down to .22. There's also a picture of the fired test cartridges. Supposed to do just over 2,000 fps with a 40 grain (I think) bullet. Pistol with the .22TCM barrel in it feels heavy even for a 1911 because the .22 bore leaves a lot of metal in the barrel.

There's no shooting it yet because the dealer that sold it doesn't have any .22TCM ammo but is "trying to get some". Called the guy with the supposed distributor connection and he's never even heard of it. Nobody but ARMSCOR makes the stuff, I'm told. So I guess it's a safe queen until somebody finds some ammo for it. May have to break down and buy some at retail.

<sigh> Sometimes life's a bitch. Then you die.

Your buddy can roll his own .22 TCM with the correct reloading dies. That's going to be the best way to get some. You can google up some stories from guys who had done it and sources for dies. I even saw a Youtube link.

If you ain't got a 1911 and you THINK your wish list is complete, you need to re-think that wish list. :friends:

Oh wait - what caliber did you say it was??

Let me know how you like it - supposed to shoot like a dream. A little loud, a little fire, but not much recoil...

Ron71...I don't think you've got that last part of the sentence quite right. You'll soon find out that you're "thinking
I need some 1911's"

I bought 1K rds. from Ammo Warehouse .37/rd. got it in 4 days. Also got 1K rds. from Armscor for the same price. I bought my RIA from Bob's in Richmond , they had about 40-50rd. bxs. I bought 4 bxs. and they gave me a box.

Tell your buddy to get on RIA web site and with Proof of Purchase they will send you "Free" bx. of 50. I never turn down free ammo !
