Picked up My Rock Island 1911 Today

Post by Snakester »

Earlier this week I ordered a Rock Island FS 1911 A1 Tactical II in 22TCM / 9mm. One was on order , but not in stock. Picked it up this morning and will give it a through workout tomorrow. This one has the lower rail , ambidextrous safety , G10 grips and 10 rd. Mag.

You'll love it. Got mine not long ago, in MS...it's become one of my favorites...big boom with little recoil.

Beautiful pistol!!! My first 45ACP was a RIA 1911CS Officers model...and although I own more 1911's (mostly Colts) the "Little Rock" is still one of my favorites. I must have well over 5,000 rounds through it...and never, not one single time has it ever failed to load, fire, eject, and reload...no matter what ammunition I'm shooting. You're only going to fall deeper in love with it.

I shot 200 rds. Saturday and it preformed great !Never misfired or jammed . Field stripped it last night and gave it a good cleaning and lubed it up. Today we shot 450 rds. ...Well my wife shot about 350 and I shot about a 100. We were shooting the 22TCM and never changed to 9mm. Carol really likes the big bang with little recoil.

It came with only 1 Mag. so shooting was a little slow , but I ordered 4 from Advanced Tactical this morning and another 1K rds. of ammo.

I have a buddy that just bought a 22TCM Bolt Action Rifle. He hasn't shot it yet , but is off Tuesday and we are going to see how it does at the range.

I changed to the 9mm barrel today and shot 50 rds. of Federal...50 rds. of Winchester and 50 rds. of Tula. All shot equally well with no issues at all. I shot the Tula to see if it would shoot and eject the steel ammo. Preformed Great but , I know it is really dirty.

I was also pleased that there wasn't but a little more recoil than the 22TCM. I am going to shoot the 9mm for a while and practice a lot . Try to shoot at least 4 time a week. I want to make this my CC Gun and want to be as comfortable as I can.

I have been hoarding 9mm Ammo since 2009 with no firearm to shoot it . I've massed about a Gazillion Rounds and now I really plan on using some up ! :pistol: :pistol: :pistol:

^^^^^ 9mm. My favorite flavor.

I had my LGS order in a RIA 9mm 1911 tactical MS the other week but I did not take it home. I had something else allocated for those funds after all.

I really like the 22tcm and RIA got it right with the 9mm conversion. I shot my uncles early production TCM, and want one for my own, LGS got one in, but it is the target FS model, and I want the smaller one to make it a viable CC option.

Yesterday I shot a friends RIA 1911 MS ( Mid Size) 17 rd. Mag. They feel a little thick to me but , after several Mags. I got really comfortable with it . We shot about 400 rds. with no issues at all. He was shooting 22TCM and I was shooting 9mm.

I showed him how to field strip and clean it . He was worried about taking it apart but , got over it pretty quick. I bet he went home and took it apart and changed to 9mm barrel.

I'm looking at the RIA .22 Mag. 1911...I haven't seen one up close and personal yet but , my Dealer has one on order. So I should see it soon.
