Facts and Figures don’t lie

You could give them all the facts and figures until it’s coming out of their ears and they would still keep on puking out the democratic liberal talking points, “I’m being persecuted” BS. Until their family unit gets there act together, their life isn’t going to change and all the democrats will want to do is pump more money into a ineffective situation.

People don't typically look at raw numbers. They look at percentage statistics. You will here the excuse the there should be more white victims than black victims because whites represent 81% of the population and blacks are only 12% of the population. If the crime stats for whites aren't 7 times higher than they are for blacks, then its a race issue.... cuz, you know.... racism.

I guess that fact that there is statistically more black criminals than white criminals doesn't seem to matter either. The white man made them criminals because of racism. SO that stat doesn't count.

When the hell are people going to realize that wealth is not a fixed dollar amount of which by birth right of a specific complexion or degree of laziness, you are magically entitled to a piece of, but rather created by hard work and producing results that other people need, bound only by the limits of infinity?

Here's an idea!!! How about the leadership in this country get on the same page, publicly announce that the last 50 years of promoting a lack of family values, lack family structure, lack family support, combined with the criminalization of being any religion but Muslim and the creation massive government dependency just doesn't work, so we are getting rid of welfare and giving massive tax breaks to complete, productive families and anyone who creates jobs?

Oh wait, that will never happen either, because that would somehow be racist too. I mean, God forbid we tell people they actually need to work for a living. How dear the rich deny poor people their daily handouts.

These raw numbers standing alone aren't particularly informative, IMO. Off the top of my head, I'd say you've got two major variables that effect how many of each race get killed by police here: One is the percentage of the population that each race comprises. The other is the rate at which members of each race commit violent crime.

If somebody wanted to go to the trouble of looking up the statistics, you might approximate an apples-to-apples comparison by multiplying their percentage of the population times the crime rate for that race for each blacks and whites. If you take the product of that and multiply it by the total population for each race, you should get the "fair" number of each race that cops ought to kill if they are treating the races equally. Of course, that ignores many other issues, but it would be much more efficacious for purposes of comparisons than just the raw numbers.

As for the white victims of black crime/black victims of white crime numbers, you can compare the percentage of black victims of white crime (which is 16.4% of the total of both black and white victims) to the percentage of the US population that is black (which in 2013 was 14.2% according to blackdemographics.com) Non-Hispanic whites were 63% of the US population in 2012 and the white victims of black crime percentage is 83.6%. It is tempting to say that means blacks victimize whites at a higher rate than whites victimize blacks. But this leaves out the HUGE issues of (1) Hispanics/Latinos (17% in 2012), and (2) mixed race people, both victims and perpetrators, as well as the fact that there are "black Hispanics" and "white Hispanics" according to the record-keeping wizards in Washington, DC.

Bottom line: I think these raw numbers present a murky and incomplete picture of the issues.

And, by the way, facts and figures DO lie, or at least people can lie with them.

There used to be a book in the library of the Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia titled "HOW TO LIE WITH STATISTICS". It was nearly always checked out and had been read until the pages were all dog-eared. I'll bet the Kennedy School of Government issues a copy to each student and designates it a textbook.

There has to be some truth to be believable. While conveying an idea, if you make 15 factual statements and one lie, people may thing the lie is true. If there are 15 false statements and one truth... people will think the truth is a lie.

Or, you can just do what dems do and repeat the lie so frequently for so long that eventually everyone believes its the truth.

Without debating who the quote is attributed to, there's a great line from history that sheds great light upon this very subject: "There are three types of lies...lies, damned lies, and statistics.".
