Also, exactly how are you going to get an online store to deliver the gun to you?
Do you have an FFL or know one that will do the transfer for free?

I'm really sure that FFLs that are trying to meet overhead, salaries, and keep up a reasonable inventory don't really appreciate someone having a firearm shipped to them that they stock so the buyer can save 20 bucks.

That is exactly why you are charged a sales tax. As I wrote that sentence I realized that it might be due to the company I'm ordering from having a physical presence in Virginia. Is that possibly the reason?
For example, an online order from WalMart for a product not in stock at my local stores.
