For those that might have a doubt about stainless versus regular steel. Here is a simple experiment for you. Go to your junk drawer in your house, find a small screw, maybe a #6 X 1 1/2 inches with a countersunk head, now run off to the hardware store and buy an exact match in stainless, It will probably cost you a quarter. Now take an old board, oak would be better for this, but any old junk board will do, if you have drill, drill just a 1/4 inch deep pilot hole for each screw (just enough so the will drive nice and straight), now drive both screws into the board. See which screw snaps off first. I can almost guarantee you a stainless screw will snap off before the head countersinks itself in the board.

As for Torx bolt heads, if you are going to be messing with Chrysler/Jeep products, save yourself some pain and suffering, go buy yourself some decent sockets. They don't have to be Snap On or Mac, SK or Craftsmen will work. When they start getting smaller and are female screws instead of Allen or Phillips head screws, you will change your opinion quickly. I use Torx screws whenever I can for home projects because they don't wring bits off or round over screws leaving you cursing.
You just have to ask yourself, is he telling you the truth based on knowledge and experience or spreading internet myths?

Lots of good advice here, most of which I wouldn't have thought about.

Me? I'd have spent the $10 for the factory parts. I'm the same way. Can't stand when something isn't "right." If that's OCD, then I guess I'm afflicted!

Marc

Save the money of the factory bolt and use it to buy sway bar disconnects. They are only around 100 bucks and will come with all new hardware.

The Rubicon has built-in electronic sway bar disconnects. I just press a button. Don't even need to get out of the Jeep.

I have been thinking about getting the manual quick disconnects to get a little more flex out of it, but it's pretty good already.

I did not realize you had a Rubi. I thought you said Sahara at one point. Nevermind.

Did you get the dual top option. I swear i just saw you on the PW Parkway near the Minniville intersection at 18:20ish. But the Jeep had a black soft top.

Yep... That was me. LoL. I was probably on my way home from the mall. Grabbed some new shoes.

I just put the soft top on a couple of days ago. The weather is starting to be nice enough to drive around with the top down once in awhile. I am going to order some 2 piece soft doors and a rear deck cover so I can bring the top and doors with me, but still take them off and enjoy the ride.
