Might be a good idea for gun shops to carry holsters and encourage the use of same. Post these stories for incentive to purchase.

Young says it's difficult to determine what caused the handgun to discharge. He says the pocketbook was full of items.
Says it all right there.

Anyone want to bet it was a handgun with a trigger safety? I'm not knocking such guns, but it's not the best choice for purse carry sans a holster.

Good grief.

There are a ton of purses that have holsters built into them. If you have to have that Coach or the Dooney and Bourke purse, at least put the gun in a holster with a strap on it before you throw it in the bag.

I personally think its not going to do you any good in a purse in a real emergency. That's bad enough. Don't make it so any poor SOB that happens to be around during your negligent discharge has to get wounded or killed.

There's a thing called a "Zach" made of kydex. It is very small. It has a piece of paracord tied to it and if snaps over the trigger guard and covers the trigger completely.

You can tie the opposite end of the cord to your belt loop, pop the Zach over your trigger guard and stuff the gun into a pocket or you belt or one of those flimsy little inside the waste band holster. When you pull it out and the gun reaches the end of the little piece of cord the Zach pops off the trigger guard and you're ready to roll.

That same piece of cord can be securely tied to the inside of a pocket book and work the same way when you pull the pistol out of the pocket book.

I have a couple Zachs for my XDMs when I used to carry one in one of those wide elastic bands that Velcro around your waist inside your pants/shirt.

it's the media's way of TURNING WOMEN AGAINST GUNS!

Remember, Women are the BIGGEST GROWING SEGMENT of the population going for firearms. So they post enough of these up to give doubt to women about owning a gun.

It's subterfuge.
