Sig Brace Ruling bags bad guys...
Not feeling to bad about the guys who are facing the charges but this shows LE will prosecute. I wouldn't own a Sig Brace.

Considering the other charges, the Sig Brace charge isn't even necessary. But, I suppose that the same is true of a lot of laws.

Well, I would venture to guess those two likely wouldn't be experiencing this issue if they weren't committing another felony. Plus, they are being charged under CA state law about SBR's, not federal laws.
I still have my brace installed. I am undecided about keeping it or not. Part of me says an outstanding citizen with the right backing needs to be charged federally, and then fight it. The other part of me says, I can't afford to be that guy.

I heard that, Marc. That's one of the reasons the left are successful in pushing their agenda; no fear of going to jail.
I can't afford to be that guy, either, and I would wager that nobody on this forum feels that they could afford to be that guy.
We all have too much to lose.

D'hell ever. Someone has to be the first in the pool.

I just bought one for my Yugo M92 pistol.
BATFE stated that the brace itself is not illegal, it's how some people were using it. In other words, if you use it according to the way it was intended then there won't be a problem.

I am in the same boat, not really interested in becoming the law abiding guy BATF tries to uses an an example on the Sig Brace.
Before I decide what to do with it I'm going to see if Sig tries to fight BATF on this. If I had private property where I could shoot I might be tempted but I don't know how indoor ranges will take to AR pistols fired from the shoulder these days.

Elite and Range 82 never said anything to me. I'm not really worried about that. Its the look-i-loos that scare me.

Re: Sig Brace Ruling bags bad guys...
Got this in an email from SIG today...
BATFE Technical Branch issued an open opinion letter dated January 16, 2015 regarding the Pistol Stabilizing Brace (SB15 and SBX) which is marketed by SIG SAUER®. Contrary to several statements subsequently made in social media, this opinion letter did not make or otherwise declare that the SB15 product is illegal. The BATFE letter stated that the SB15 is a product “which is legal to own, legal to purchase and legal to install on a pistol.” SIG SAUER believes that the PSB enhances the shooter’s experience and offers the products as an accessory and pre-installed on a number of pistols. In all of its opinions, BATFE has consistently stated that a pistol with a stabilizing brace attached remains a pistol under the Gun Control Act when used as designed.
Re: Sig Brace Ruling bags bad guys...
If you never shoulder it in pubic, I'm sure a SIG brace owner is OK. Shoulder it in public, or hand it to a friend who does, in eyesight of an antigun LE and the defense bills will far exceed the $200 tax stamp for an sbr.
Hell, an antigun LE having a bad day could ruin your day. Your word against his.
I'm really taking the pessimist role on this ain't I?
