Beretta sending me a replacement Nano with a new s/n
Hi quick question......I sent my Beretta Nano to Beretta in Maryland for repair. They are replacing the whole gun and it will have a new serial number. Does this mean the gun has to go from Beretta in Acokeek, MD to my local FFL in Virginia and a re-do of all the paperwork, Fed and Virginia or can Beretta send the replacement gun directly to me? Thanks.

I went through that myself with another company. Even if they sent the same gun back, it can't go directly to you. It would be an illegal transfer. It has to go to an FLL and the Federal paperwork needs to be redone. My FFL only charged me $2 though.
I would assume with a whole new SN, you would have to do both state and Fed.

Re: Beretta sending me a replacement Nano with a new s/n
Thanks, that's what I figured. Bummer.
My understanding however that if it is a repair to and from the manufacturer and the s/n does not change, it can be sent back directly to the owner. It's when the s/n changes, e.g. as in the case of a replacement gun or the part that has the s/n stamped on it. The Nano is somewhat unique in that the s/n is stamped on the removable steel chassis not on the polymer frame (lower). And wherever the gun goes to for repair the place better have an FFL.

Just wanted to say from personal experience (Sent my XDs to springfield for the recall) that if it is sent off to the manufacturer for repair they can send the same gun directly back to your home and not a FFL. Now what you mention about the s/n changing not sure how that will affect it.
