I've got a project

Post by Bob »

I got a free bush hog today, it's a little rusted and dirty right now but operational. The blades look like there in good shape and the frame is solid.
Some older folks that live about four miles up the road from me call and asked if I wanted it. I've done some favors for them through the years so I guess thats why they thought of me.

It's a five footer and looks like I can fix it up with out too much trouble, I had to take my tractor to get it I had no other way to handle it. I will try to power wash it as soon as I can and start working on it in my free time. It will probally take me a month or two to get it squared away and painted.

A bush hog like that new is worth quite a bit of money, so I'm real happy with it. If any of you own a Kubota tractor Chevy engine orange matches the Kubota great, thats engine orange DE1620, I've used it on other pieces of equiptment and it looks great.

I won't be working on it this week I want to go trout fishing wednesday before turkey starts. It's a good thing you can only hunt turkey until noon otherwise I'd never get anything done around here.

Ah, that's a nice freebie there! Post Mower Porn! lol

When does Spring turkey season end? I'm thinking of putting various hunting seasons on the calendar as well.

I can't do any work today, it's cold, windy and nasty, I actually saw a few snow flurries.

I ckecked the oil in this bush hog and it looks good, pretty clean for a old machine, bearings look good too.

Here is a before picture, in a month or two it will look a lot better.

Sorry Rick I forgot to add this, spring turkey ends May 16.

You can get all the hunting and fishing info you need off the Virginia Fish and Game website, www.dgif.virginia.gov/
I hope I did that link right.

I spent hours and hours as a kid pulling a mower like that down the fence rows on our farm in Illinois. Ah, those were the days. Now I live on an acre and can't get far enough away from my neighbors :-/

Yeah, tell me about it. I got 3 acres and can't get away from them. 10 years ago I couldn't see my nearest neighbor, today I gotta be careful about where I piss in the yard. And no more running naked through the woods. :(

Don't have any control over it when the moon is full, but I am covered in hair and look more like a wolf then.

Bob that hog looks to be in pretty good shape to have been sitting. I broke a blade on the one I have at work ($185.00 each ) and it went through the side of the bushhog. Scared the crap out of me.

It's not in bad shape at all, the blades need to be sharpened and it needs some paint other than that I got a good one, the price sure was right.
They told me it hasn't been used for years and it's been sitting in a barn all that time.

Here's a picture of a blade I got that was all rusted up and looked bad. I took it apart and cleaned up the rust, primed and painted it and bought a pin at Northern Tool for about four bucks. All it cost me was around 25.00 dollars most of that was for paint. I priced new blades and they cost around 400 bucks.

I painted the blade to match my tractor, I'll do the same with this bush hog. The blades a little dirty now I've been using it the last couple of days. I normally hose my equipt. off when I'm done.

Do you see that rusted up hay fork sitting behind it, I found that in a hedge row last year and I'm thinking about what I can make out of it.
