Congratulations. I have boot camp whenever I get cleared by the NAVY Doctors and should be BUD/s right after that pending not getting injured. Woo hoo. How old is your son?

Many props to your son. My father was extremely proud when I told him I wanted to be a SEAL. His father was Army-Air Force in World War II.

Much respect to your son for wanting to fight for this country.

My dad was Army, mother was WAC, I wanted to be the best (in my mind) USMC. It appears it will stop there. I feel your pride!

Congrat's Glen, and being the best is not only in your mind. My youngest son Jimmy made E-6 Staff Sergeant on Oct.1st. He now has 8 years in his reserve unit with a year tour of duty in Iraq.

Congrats to Glen, Bill. I thank him and you for your service. Yours not only for prior service but you and your wife for being the parents of someone in service to our country. That too is a sacrifice.

Well, he aced his ASVAB ( :first: ) and passed his medical today - swearing in Nov. 2nd. :friends:
He's a good boy - if I had been able to get the lead out of his a$$, I would've been set for life for casting! Hopefully the Marines will be able to assist him with that problem...

Seriously, it is a sacrifice - and I am proud of him for taking that step. I give thanks daily for all those who have given of their time and talents, and many the last full measure to protect and serve this GREAT COUNTRY that we live in. My hat's off to you guys - you know who you are.

Glen

What score is considered "Acing an ASVAB?" I scored a 93% and the darn NAVY Recruiters won't leave me alone about doing Crypto Technology or IT.

His Staff Sgt. said he got all answers correct, and that he's the only the 4th to do so in the 2 years he'd been in this position in C'ville.

He's got his sights set on Mars in 20-30 years, sez he's going... needs a flying career to get to that point.

Aim high, right?

Go, son! :clapping:

Mars? If we gonna have a serious space program I'd be happy see a fully functional station in permanent orbit around this planet. The fuel costs alone for a ship to achieve orbit are staggering, but you could launch those puppies anywhere you wanted with a full tank from a station in orbit.

... did someone say Mars...? Could we make that the "Official EARTH Gun-Free Zone"... not suggesting inter-stellar deportation, just a option for change of scenary....

Congrats on the testing; more Congrats and Thanks for your decision to serve - to the son = stay safe and continue to achieve your goals/dreams; to the parent = job well done over the years... "building boys is better than mending men..." (oh, that should also include daughters as well, as I am sure we have some proud folks here as well).
