WHOO HOOO! A REAL COUNTRY STATION!

Post by Reverenddel »

93.1 Hank FM started up yesterday. As I drove home, they played Merle Haggard, John Anderson, George Strait, Martina McBride, etc, etc....

Now they moved the "Bro-Country" Wolf to another station, but since they booted up yesterday? I ain't changed the dial, turned it down, or wondered "Which faceless idjut did Nashville put on now?"

When I was driving to work this morning, and Alabama's "Roll On (18 Wheeler)" came on, I realized, they ain't playing "just the hits", they're playing the stuff that charted, but didn't move up to number one...

I'm happy! Just saying, rarely does something happy come along in Central Va, but I'm happy!

It's hard to find good all country music anymore. I spend most of my time listening to Willies road house on Sirius. I really enjoy the show rear view on Friday night at 6 pm where they play 3 hours of country history. Hank, lefty, Mr tubbs and Loretta lynn and plenty of old time trucking songs.
yes Dorminws I am a Hillbilly and proud of it.

Yep! When I have access to Sirus Radio, I find myself on Willie's Roadhouse as well.

I was born, and raised in the country of Central Virginia, but my Pop's side of the family hail from Appalachia, and it kinda stuck. It's probably why I prefer mountains to beaches for holiday. I feel better in the hills.

Now if they had decent paying JOBS?!!? I might have to rethink things. HAHAH

"Bro Country"? I guess I had similar thoughts with a different name for it. Where did it move to so I can better avoid it should I actually turn the radio on?

Well, you certainly ought to be. It's a badge of honor and a mark of distinction that precious few of us are privileged to bear. :first:

Riding with GF and her daddy, now. He's got the radio tuned to Willie's Roadhouse. GF doesn't care too much for it, but it suits me fine.

The "Bro-Country" station have become two fold 95.1, and 98.9... they closed "Liberty 98.9" which was a mild rock station.

I have the idea that the market better supported multiple country stations than 4-5 soft/mild'/oldies/classic rock stations.

I used to work for a tiny AM station. I took over an hour morning program that played country music. We had bins and bins of old 45's. golden stuff, even for a non-country fan like me. The main studio had more bins of old 10 40 songs. Lots of old R n R of a quality that would never make top 40 in today's world - like Cream, etc.

Station was bought and the new owner threw all those records in the trash.

Sad.

Where do they broadcast from? Is it a very low-power station? I couldn't hear it in my car in Fluvanna.

I can reach them from Glen Allen to Colonial heights, so that's about 30 miles.

I been listening some every day.....Today we listened AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL day. My buddy just bought a new
F350 with all the bells and whistles , so we made a BIG circle around Richmond ....Hitting all the gun shops , Wally Worlds and Dick's . The Radio Signal seemed a little week at times , but could even get it loud and clear in South Hill. It is pretty nice to hear all the oldies and not so much new and NOT Country BS !
