Gun-crazy? Me? I'd say the gun-crazy ones are the ones that don’t HAVE one.

I can't tell if the CDC is lying or if they are just incompetent. I suspect it's a little of both.

I'm leaning towards predominantly lying, with a little incompetence thrown in for flavor.

I'm trying not to be cynical of the CDC. Just because this one doctor is sounding an alarm doesn't mean the CDC is lying. Don't know who this guy is, and if he is a publicity hound, then who is the liar? Can't find much on the guy except for this little stunt of him in the hazmat suit.
Not time to worry too much yet, unless it starts spreading. If it spreads rapidly it will obviously be problematic on a lot of fronts. Hope this Mobely guy is wrong.

I'm cynical of nearly every institution that goes by it's initials. Maybe I'm just cynical, in general. It's easy to get that way, I suppose.

I don't know what the real deal is, but what I do know is everything they said can't happen has happened.
Supposedly you have to come in contact with body fluids of an Ebola victim to get it, but the doctor in Texas says he didn't have direct contact with any Ebola patients, but he got it.
On the bright side it won't kill us any deader than all the other stuff that's supposed to kill us.

I'm going with incompetent. This is the same agency that had a contract security guard, who is a convicted felon, armed and escorting the POTUS during a CDC visit.
Re: Atlanta Doc: :"CDC is lying about ebola."
This story is far from over. I'm gonna raise Marc's "incompetent" to "gross incompetence", and say that these people are woefully under-prepared to deal with ANY disease outbreak on US soil.
It is past time to stop all direct travel between the US and West Africa. Further, it is past time to engage in rigorous screening of ALL passengers flying into the US from other destinations.
We're not going to catch them all because it looks like common OTC drugs (ibuprofen, naproxin, etc.) can be used to bring down fever enough to get people past checkpoints.
The other thing that bothers me is we don't seem to know where this came from. I have heard this strain of ebola referred to as one that came from a lab. Sounds like the beginning of a tin-foil hat theory to me.
I would be more inclined to believe the information found here:
http://www.livescience.com/47946-where- ... -from.html
On the other hand, if the CDC is lying they have to believe they are trying to prevent mass panic. That two-edged sword will have the effect of maintaining complacency in the general population. Complacency is what brought us the current administration. Not a good thing.

We will likely never know just how this was initially spread. We know how to stop the spread now, but will we have the intestinal fortitude to do what is right in order to contain this outbreak. The virus could have been carried by bats or by people, but if it was carried by people, researchers would have expected to see cases along the way, Gatherer said. "It's probably more likely that there's an epidemic going on in bats, but we can't be absolutely certain," Gatherer said.

Death amongst the populace is acceptable in place of a riotous mob who can overthrow authority. Just saying.

We've know since the invention of commercial flight that if an EOL pandemic were to occur, airlines would be the primary carrier. We just assumed that it would be too late to stop it once it was notice. Hence the EOL event. However, we do know that is exactly what is happening right now. Everyone who gets on a boat or plane is a potential Mary Mallon.
The question is, what is appropriate. We already have families of the Dallas man on court ordered house arrest/quarantine, who are being forced to stay in their home by armed police standing outside. The Dallas man is being criminally charged by the US and Liberia.
I don't want anyone to spread this disease and I don't want anyone to get sick, but I sure as hell don't want my rights and the rights of others to get tossed aside for "the greater good". We all know that anything the government starts, policies enacted, and laws passed almost never get retracted. Having the government micromanage travel and forcing people to stay in there homes seems like the start of Oceania and the end of the US.
