I have driven 1500 miles each way to avoid flying. Sorry the TSA are not going to get to paw my toddlers private parts while I stand there helpless. That was before all this Ebola crap.

Well this outbreak has become very personal to me. A good friend who is a native Sierra Leonean, living in Freetown, has a NEXT DOOR neighbor who just died of Ebola. This is like a week after they shut down everything for three days, so that health care workers could go door-to-door inspecting. They obviously missed this one guy. So now my friend, his infant son & wife, along with everyone else in the apartment building, are under imminent threat of a 21-day quarantine.

If you were quarantined here, you could arrange to get food & supplies delivered most likely. But he has a very real fear that they won't survive. A corrupt govt. in which none of the aid money is reaching the people, a pay-as-you-go medical system in which you can't even get aspirin without paying up front, panic inflation that already makes it almost impossible to eat since the outbreak.... if he has the sniffles or gets taken to the hospital by a concerned health care worker, it is likely he would never come home. My advice to him was to GET OUT NOW before they lock down the building, but for some reason I don't think he grasps the danger. Not the danger of infection, but of mass panic. With the death toll rising, it can't be long before panic sets in and the gangs take over. I've been to Sierra Leone twice, and the movie Blood Diamond is about the most accurate picture I can paint. How long before that place is run by warlords? It could so easily turn into a killing zone...

PhantomPhixer, thanks for that post. Sobering and chilling. I hope your friend and his family make it out alright. I have a feeling that his hesitation to escape might just be fear or not knowing where else he can go.

Aklinski said he was going to a doctor on his own initiative to be tested for the Ebola virus. “This is definitely a concern and exposed workers have not been contacted or tested… like me,” he explained. “I had to call into control in Dallas at 8 pm and complain to get evaluated.”

“Three days after the fact,” an exasperated Aklinski stated, “I had to demand exposure testing and they are reporting following up with all the people in the ambulance??? Bull crap!!! They haven’t even followed up with the ten firefighters that were on duty Sunday.”

Aklinski went further in explaining the frustration he and most likely, other firefighters, are feeling. “How do you not test and contact the firefighters at the station on Sunday!!! Only the two medics and the intern on the ambulance? I was freaking in that ambulance hours later driving it!!! No one bothered to contact me about it?!!!”
Just criminal total incompetence?

Ok guys, put your tin foil hats on for a minute. What if this is a well orchestrated terrorist attack intent on infecting Americans with Ebola? Sounds crazy, right?

Almost as crazy as some dude putting explosives in his underwear and attempting to blow up an airliner.

I don't think it's a terrorist attack, unless you mean the Chicago terror gang. It is sad and scary that one can not reject the idea that importing the virus was "allowed" by the regime in order to gin up an Emmanuelian crisis that would permit the government to further its incursion on the Constitution.

I have been saying since the day Obama took office... he is just itching for an excuse to impose martial law and suspend general elections... securing the thrown indefinitely. Well, he is running out of time... something was bound to happen. Hopefully Congress will tell him to go pound sand if he tries that crap.

At the rate things are going, the "throne" of the almighty POTUS will soon become a potty chair. So maybe nobody will WANT to be the next to sit on it, anyway.

Everyone on this forum is about right. it's not tin-foil if it's HAPPENING!

We watch these horror movies about disease, and after saying "Nah! Couldn't happen." Wwwwweeelllll.

The the bubonic plague hit in the Dark Ages, the one thing you dramatically noticed was the LACK of people! The worlds population dropped to a genetic bottle neck. The Spanish Flu took mainly HEALTHY people, and it slighted up again.

If you have no faith, find some. If you have no provisions, get some. If guv'mint comes to the front door, go out the back.

We're rapidly falling apart folks.

I'd be offended but hell, I know how you feel. Many a day I wish I didn't sound like me either. Pessimism isn't contagious, it just kind of happens the more one looks around.

For those of us who don't want to put on our tin-foil hats just yet . . .

My problem with the TF hat theory is it gives the idiots in government too much credit for having half a brain. I sincerely hope that line of thinking is dead wrong. If you guys are right we're in deeper crap than any of us can imagine.

I'm going to keep believing that the CDC is as incompetent as a 12 year-old trying to fly an F-18.

You should watch 12 year-olds playing video games. They'd do better than you might think.

Get food, water, ammo, bio-suit w/splash guard... wait for the ebola zombies... aim for the head.

I won't feel bad about head shots on ebola victims. They are already dead; they just forgot to stop breathing.

Being "out here in the country" doesn't feel so isolated anymore. Fall is prime tourist season out here in the valley. Looks like I'll avoid Front Royal and confine myself to Strasburg for the forseeable future.
