I wonder if the Dallas case stems from Mexico?
If so, I'm rather close to the Mexican border fairly frequently. I wonder how long it would take to spread if an infected person passed it along to a few others in a border truck stop?
A truck driver in Laredo, Texas could end up in Montana tomorrow, then Maine by Friday, making several stops for food, fuel, and restrooms along the way. In 30 days time, he could fathomably hit each of the continental 48, stopping in each one. And that's just one driver.
Incidentally, such a scenario may prove unlikely with something like ebola (I don't know. Admittedly, I'm a bit ignorant of most diseases) But, ebola isn't the only horrible disease. The Mexican border is so porous that is may as well be non-existent. And, it seems that the Mexican non-border is a popular place in which to sneak into the country.
And, truck stops on the border are packed with foreigners. They beg, hitchhike, and wander around the store.
The thought that a trucker could pick something up, be it ebola or some other Godawful, wretched disease, is actually a concern. Seems like a way for things to spread.
I realize that my response to it a couple months ago was flippant and nonchalant, but having thought about it a bit. ... well, I find that I am concerned, after all.
