Gun Shop FT Belvoir

If you got a good deal or great service from a shop or range and you want to brag about them, here's the place to do it. Likewise, if you are unhappy about someone's service or feel like you've been ripped off, we want to know that too!

I work on Fort Belvoir. The closest gun store and range is Sharpshooters, which is a couple of miles north of the north post off the parkway. The store and range are OK. 25 yards, and they allow rifles. They don't allow any steel ammo and have some other restrictions, so don't bring your Wolf or Tula. Think the PX on base sells guns and ammo, but I don't shop there so I can't say.

Depending on what type guns you want to buy, look for places that will give you a military discount. Sometimes, it's the same as the LE discount and may be a considerable savings as is the case with most S&Ws and Glocks.

The PX gun shop has a limited selection and I don't find their pricing great, but it is tax free.

Sharpshooters as previously mentioned is close and has a pretty good selection and a good staff. Prices are a bit high. Range is old and not maintained well.

Quantico Tactical in Woodbridge does well with S&W line and offers a solid military discount. Also has lots of clothing and accessories.

I think probably the best overall gun shop in NOVA is Virginia Arms in Manassas. Good selection, fair pricing and solid staff. Great armorer there too.

Only one I know of is in Richmond - Town Police Supply, also a distributor I believe.

The PX has a gun department in the back with some good prices

Yes, the PX does now have a decent gun section. Don't hold me to it but if I remember correctly they price based on the caliber of the weapon. I think 9mm pistols were $440 and the G42 was $420. I think .45s were $460. Sharpshooters is pretty good but they charge full MSRP. The range is nice, I've been a few times and would like a years membership. The good thing is the range is open late, until 10pm during the week and 8pm on Sundays. Most ranges in the area close by 8 during the week. The employees are nice (even the one guy who always seems like he's tired of being there, I refer to him as a bucket full of sunshine and my husband always knows exactly who I'm referring to).

Thanks, I've been in NOVA (civilian) for 6mo now, but haven't yet managed to go to a LGS (did get my CCW pretty quick, though!). I'm going to go try Virginia Arms on Monday.

Robb Jensen, their armorer, is also a competitive shooter. He does excellent work beyond what most armorers do. He is one of the very few I'll let work on my guns.
