This video of me blasting universal background checks is what readers first see when they land on the Delaware County Daily Times article “Gun rights activists, gun control advocates face off over background checks” about the Saturday, June 28, 2014 competing rallies. Gun rights haters can't be happy about that.

Re: Countering Gun Rights Haters on the Street and in the Press
For several decades I've been saying that crime and murder rates are a cultural issue, not an "access to weapons" issue. People who want to kill, will kill. Before firearms were invented, murders occurred since as far back as we are able to document life existed. Why would anyone believe it would stop if we take away firearms.
I think we will never win the 2A argument because socialist members of the ruling class know that armed people cannot be controlled. They don't care about the Constitution; only creating their Utopia (which is not possible) while getting rich and gaining more control/power. The strongest weapon they have is emotional, uneducated, closed minded citizens who are so lost that they don't realize that by believing in and supporting the quest for Utopia they are actually helping the left wing ruling class build their own prison.
In my opinion, the real answer to the problem is we need to get back to basics; a life with Christianity, Judaism, or other faith of a singular, all loving God; family life with a husband/father, wife/mother, teaching children to respect everyone, the value of life and the reward of labor.
I believe anything else will fail.

An eye opener for me was “Why Is The United States The Most Homicidal Nation In The Affluent World?” http://nij.gov/multimedia/presenter/pre ... lcome.aspx Professor Randy Roth of Ohio State University speaks for an hour about the causes of murder and why the murder rate fluctuates. What are most conspicuous for their absence is that he doesn't mention guns. They only come up during the question and answer period because of an audience question.MarcSpaz wrote:For several decades I've been saying that crime and murder rates are a cultural issue, not an "access to weapons" issue. Damn... 24 minutes left and the site went down.
So the gist of it is, the less we trust the government and the more unsure we are about the stability of our country, the more murders occur. hmmm. Got to do some independent review of data to confirm (trust but verify), but it sounds pretty simple, and likely. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Like anything else, I doubt its the sole contributor.

Absolutely not the sole contributor. The Amazon description of Roth's book "American Homicide" http://www.amazon.com/American-Homicide ... 0674064119 lists 4 factors:MarcSpaz wrote:So the gist of it is, the less we trust the government and the more unsure we are about the stability of our country, the more murders occur. hmmm. What I like about Roth's research is that it points to 4 social dynamics & not guns as the source of the problem....increases in the homicide rate—correlated closely with four distinct phenomena: political instability; a loss of government legitimacy; a loss of fellow-feeling among members of society caused by racial, religious, or political antagonism; and a loss of faith in the social hierarchy. Those four factors, Roth argues, best explain why homicide rates have gone up and down in the United States and in other Western nations over the past four centuries, and why the United States is today the most homicidal affluent nation.
