Good article. Hope can also be found that more and more parents are saying no thanks to the public schools and are either going to private school or homeschooling.
"I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend."
Neither one of my kids ever set foot in public school. I'm finally through paying tuition after 20 years. I notice my girls can actually think and carry on a coherent conversation whereas most kids are unable to do so. It was worth every penny.
Progressives/Liberals - Promoting tyranny and a defenseless people since 1913.
The future America will need mindless, compliant worker bees to do as they are told. Today's kids will be tomorrows workers, consumers and voters. It won't be a pretty sight.
It isn't foil hat at all, unfortunately. Lenin and Hitler both said that controlling children is the key to controlling all the people. As Joe Thomas says, the government school system is now a hostage situation: "We have your children. Here are our demands."
When will Americans rise up against this tyranny?
I think the answer is "Never." At least two generations have been brainwashed into apathetic dependence and obedience to governmental authority. The militarization of the police and the institution of constant, high-tech surveillance have turned us into a police state. If you object peacefully to government oppression, you are "punished" with tax audits, targeted traffic stops, arrests with planted evidence, and worse.

I liked the article, but the author misses a larger point; many schools must be run like prisons because today's student is tomorrows inmate. The majority black/latino schools are genuine ghetto hellholes.
So glad to have gotten my daughter out of publik schol and into home instruction. We have learning lessons in the field and the range too.. and tie it into personal responsibility, etc..
Her HS was full of drugs too, and was getting worse and worse. This was a middle class HS too, not a ghetto school.
