Miscellanous (sp?) For Sale Section
On some of the other websites that I have visited have a Misc. For Sale Section. Now, I understand that this is a gun website. But, sometimes, you may have more stuff to sell than just a gun, box of ammo, or a few primers. Now, my suggestion is this: Have a Misc. For Sale section where users may offer other items for sale to other Local (for the most part) guys (girls are included in that) before they sell them elsewhere. I have a few things I would definitely post up in that thread. Electronics mostly.
Thanks,
MuShu

If you need to sell electronics, check out this site. They will send you a pre-paid box. You might not get the price you want but its there.

As for having a Misc for Sale section I will follow the crowd but will say IMO that it has some potential to draw undesirables to our forum.

I'm glad you waited until I joined before you created that rulezephyp wrote: As for having a Misc for Sale section I will follow the crowd but will say IMO that it has some potential to draw undesirables to our forum.
I'd rather sell something here than on Craigslist along side the hooker ads.

Yes, I would too. But if we create a Misc Wanted section them hookers might come over here...Just my opinion. I only try to make rules for a feisty little woman and 3 rat faced Chihuahuas...OakRidgeStars wrote:I'm glad you waited until I joined before you created that rulezephyp wrote: As for having a Misc for Sale section I will follow the crowd but will say IMO that it has some potential to draw undesirables to our forum.![]()

Hey ,,it would give you guys a good chance to use your moderator skills keeping the dirt bags out,, Seriously though if you set the rules up front and then have to enforce them ,no one can say they weren't warned ,, If possible make a disclaimer that posters have to read and accept before they post an item. So rule #1 might be: Sorry, hookers should use craigslist.

I really dont have an opionion one way or the other. I've got a bunch of stuff I'd love to put up. Just saying it might draw folks who's only interaction would be to post items for sale - whatever those might be...OakRidgeStars wrote:Now you're just trying to stifle a little free enterprise![]()
Now I have seen on other forums where they were specific to a group (computer geeks) you couldnt post anything for sale in the general section until you had so many posts. Showed you were at least a contributing member rather than merely a lookey-loo.

It sounds good to me. Give it a 30 or 60 day trial period and if its not working out--delete it. I like DK's idea about a certain number of posts before you can use it.

If the poster has more than (arbitrary number) posts and contributes to the conversations (IE: Is not a troll just posting there), I don't see why not. I would make it wide open and non specific so as not to encourage non-2A stuff too much myself.

I have an iPod Touch and a TON of other stuff I want to post up here. I think that I almost have enough posts to do it too.

We can all agree but Rick is the man to make the decision. He'll read our posts and consider what we've discussed and make a decision based on what he thinks good for the forum.MuShuGordon wrote:I have an iPod Touch and a TON of other stuff I want to post up here. Rick, the guy whose name is in red? allingeneral is it? Yes, it is ultimately his decision, but I think that he will see the light. Look for the first post to be his.

Re: Miscellanous (sp?) For Sale Section
Alright, I added it. Here's a link: http://vagunforum.net/misc-for-sale/
There is no hard and fast rule regarding forum activity requirements. There is no specific board functionality that will keep someone from making their first post in this forum (for now). I have placed rules in the forum stating that you must be an active forum member with a minimum of 10 posts in order to use the Miscellaneous For Sale forum.
If spam becomes a problem, I will look at changing it so that 10 posts are required before posting is allowed by the forum software. Hopefully, it won't be an issue and this will be a good addition for all.
Thanks for your suggestion MuShu!

Re: Miscellanous (sp?) For Sale Section
i personally thank that as long as we have a good staff of mods it wont be a problem keeping it in order, and keep from people turning it into a craigslist or like they have in my local paper, a merchandise under 50 section where everyone just puts whatever in there because its free, the news paper here actually changed after a little while to now they only post the section once a week and give it its on about 2-6 page section that pulls out that is just for that. i mean its hit or miss some times you can find good deals other times i think people just do it so they can get a laugh.
