1911s
Re: 1911s
Nope, can't agree. for years I avoided 1911's. Was a devout Tupperware gun owner (S&W M&P). But when I picked up my FIRST S&W 1911 SC E Series Bobtail, it was magic. No gun has ever felt so good in my hand. None. The fit was perfect, the balance was perfect. Then when I went to the range, it made me look like a far better shot than I am. I simply hit whatever I aim at with it. Every time. My M&P now collects dust in my safe. I almost always am carrying my 1911, though at times on my bike, I do carry my S&W Model 66 (Motorcycles and revolvers just go together). The 1911 is a gun I will own forever.

My new FNX 40 has a positive safety, it can be carried hammer down, or cocked and locked. It takes "zero" maintenance, Ive yet to lube it (only clean it), it shoots combat sights (front sight dot covers POI), poly frame is light, I have 14+1 capacity and it feels great!
I also have an RIA would not *EVER* sell... but for combat or field, Id take my FNX first... Im sure of 100% reliability (akin to Glock or XD).

Re: 1911s
I started shooting with a 6 sot revolver and I was trained to make every shot count. I couldn't afford to miss. When I went to a S&W 59 (14 shot) 9mm I took the same bellief with me. The 7-9 rounds in a 1911 are plenty if you are trained to hit what you are shooting at. Too many get high capacity autos and fire 3, 4, 5, or more rounds and hope they hit something at least once. One shot one hit, use cover when available. BTW I am police officer and would not mind at all if I were allowed to carry a six shot 357 Magnum.
