Ain't nobody here but us chickens!

No politics in the KXL decision! No!

http://www.politico.com/story/2014/04/k ... html?hp=l4

No decision until after the mid-terms, but there certainly are no politics in this decision.

http://www.politico.com/story/2014/04/k ... html?hp=l5

Why would they be in the hotseat if politics isn't involved? I just don't get it. :dunno:

Listen, stop making political decisions so political. There is no room in politics for politics. Sheesh.

Besides, everyone knows that if you are going to do something grossly unpopular, you do it after elections so you and all your party members get elected... but early enough before the next election that all your constituents completely forget about it due to all the OTHER shenanigans going on.

Pardon my commonsense environmentalism, but wouldn't the pipeline (once completed) have vastly fewer emissions than transporting the oil via rail, truck, or barge?

The oil would probably also generate considerably less pollution if burned in the USA under our draconian emissions standards rather than in China under their nonexistent ones.

Prob because they have devalued our $$ so much. So $3.25 now has the buying power of $ 2.50 from a few years ago.

Government repression has that affect on a lot of people. We are all trying to forget what used to be. It makes living in the present a little easier.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Biofuels made from the leftovers of harvested corn plants are worse than gasoline for global warming in the short term, a study shows, challenging the Obama administration's conclusions that they are a much cleaner oil alternative and will help combat climate change.

A $500,000 study paid for by the federal government and released Sunday in the peer-reviewed journal Nature Climate Change concludes that biofuels made with corn residue release 7 percent more greenhouse gases in the early years compared with conventional gasoline.
snip
The biofuel industry and administration officials immediately criticized the research as flawed. They said it was too simplistic in its analysis of carbon loss from soil, which can vary over a single field, and vastly overestimated how much residue farmers actually would remove once the market gets underway.
Ethanol mandates+ethanol subsidies=some pretty damned brazen crony capitalism.

Yea. Had a crush on Chris O'Connell on the early 70's version of the band.

You know, when Katrina hit... I filled my tank the next day because I knew with the refineries being down, fuel would increase. That price? $1.35 for PREMIUM! that was the LAST time I filled up for under $2.

Did you know Benson and (another guy whose name escapes me) started AATW in Paw Paw, WV? Just found that out. Would never have guessed that Paw Paw was famous for anything.

Well, how do you think they refine/distill that corn residue? WITH COAL-FIRED REFINERIES!
I never COULD make sense of the supposed savings.
1) Costs more to make (Gov't subsidizes the ethanol; remove that subsidy and -YIKES!!!)
2) Less mileage with ethanol
3) Ethanol burns cleaner, but they don't count the emissions from the coal when making the ethanol
:bangin:
