Renewal of CHP in Fairfax Co.

Post by ProtectThisHouseVA »

I sent in my renewal paperwork almost a month ago. Nothing yet. Anyone experience any difficulties in Renewal?

Thanks.

(Un)Fairfax traditionally waits the full 45 days before issuing a permit.

Just one more reason I have come to regard Fairfax as a boil on the anus of the Commonwealth. Sorry for the earthy language, folks, but I just don't know how else to say it.

I guess I was the lucky one. I got mine in Fairfax 2 years ago and I received it in 3 weeks.
Question: I am now in Loudoun County. When renewal time comes, do I renew through fairfax or Loudoun?

We did get a new Sheriff… don't know if that's the hold up. Mine is up this October so I'm carefully watching this thread.

I bet you get it in time. With the new sheriff, if she is responsible for it, if she doesn't issue, then you go out with your de facto permit, and commit a crime with it, she'll have egg all over her dumb ass face.

UPDATE

Fair enough … About 23/24 days.

• Up for CHP renewal by April 2, 2014.
• Delivered my paperwork on January 31 (about 45 business days out)
• Received new permit on March 5, 2014

I wish we were issued a more substantial/durable ID. Maybe something plastic - like a driver license. They really expect a tiny sheet of paper to last 5 years? Now I've got to go out and laminate it or find some kind of plastic sleeve.

FYI. There's also an application to order a duplicate.

Yeah, I got my CHP in about 25 days in Fairfax. They certainly don't always go the full 45. I suspect it's more based on work load. FWIW...

Cheers,

And you can OC in ProShooters without the manager calling the cops because a guy walk in the store with a gun.

Had my renewal laminated at staples in Vienna and the gal told me she was glad I had it and wished more people did. Wax carrying at the time. There were no postings against it.

I dropped my application off at the post office next door to the jail on either the first or second of April and am still waiting. Knowing FFX I am expecting them to use all the time they can.
